It’s Race Win Number 21 For “Swift Messi”
THREE WINS FOR NORAH – TWO WINS FOR OWNER D.J. STADDON!
Friday 8th August HOVE Report
Winners
What more can you say about the amazing SWIFT MESSI. Five years old in September he is still showing the youngsters the way home! Lining up for his 142nd race in the A6 at 12-24 defeat would not have been on his mind! The September 2009 son of Hondo Black loves to bowl along in front and is rarely out of the frame! The pride and joy of Diane and Alf Benson ‘Lionel’ led from the first bend and held off the challenge of the Wayne Wrighting trained Bellinter Rose by a head! A 4/1 shot Swift Messi clocked 30.87 (-20) 30.67 calculated when winning for the 21st time at Hove for his owners The Glum Sinners. Just for good measure ‘Lionel’ has been placed 2nd 44 times!
Swift Messi (Lionel) – 142 Races – 21 Wins – 44 Second Places!
Our other two winners today are both owned by leading owner Dave Staddon and he has a nice type in the shape of COOLOGUE GEM who won the A1 at 1-27. The November 2011 daughter of Seventh Jet ran on well to beat the Derek Knight trained Tullna Hawk a short head clocking her best time of 30.14 (-20) 29.94 calculated. This was a 4th Hove win for the improving bitch!
MINEOLA PROF was last away in the A6 at 1-58 but he was a wide margin winner for owner Dave Staddon. The May 2012 son of College Causeway beat his kennel mate Princess Jetta by five and a quarter lengths clocking 30.59 (-20) 30.39 calculated. The 5/4 favourite was winning for the first time at Hove but he does have a Derry sprint win on his Irish card! Princess Jetta was quick away and led to the third bend. She clocked 31.00 (-20) 30.80 calculated in 2nd place.
How Our Other Runners Fared
Westmead Louisa was the 10/1 outsider for the A10 at 10-38 and her chance was made harder when she was baulked at the first bend. To her credit she did run on for 3rd place clocking 31.40 (-20) 31.20 calculated four and three quarter lengths behind the Jason Heath trained winner Rizzle Kick.
Shyan Zippy has been running well and put in another good effort in the A7 at 11-23 when finishing 3rd behind the Ken Tester trained Capoola Dawn. Shyan Zippy ran on well clocking 31.02 (-20) 30.82 calculated just under three lengths behind the winner.
Blazing Swallow was baulked at the 1/4 mark in the A7 at 11-37 and could not get involved there after. She finished four lengths behind the Paul Garland trained winner Express Hero clocking 31.28 (-20) 31.08 calculated in 6th place.
On Your Lonesome stumbled on the run-up in the A8 at 1-11 and despite working his way into second place he faded to finish 6th. He clocked 31.32 (-20) 31.12 calculated six and a half lengths behind the Claude Gardiner trained winner Frankie Blitz.
