Certain club members have been unashamedly ecstatic today as news has reverberated out from Plough Lane since mid-morning, Wednesday.

News that is not for the faint-hearted!

A norahmac club dog has actually exceeded expectations.

And I’ll repeat that for those who can’t believe their eyes.

A norahmac club dog has actually exceeded expectations.

My guess is that if it weren’t for the ‘hacking scandal’ hogging the limelight we’d have made the 6 0’clock slot such is the sheer unexpectedness of this shocking event.

Apparently ‘mad dog’ Maunders was sighted in Sunbury late afternoon, lathering and panting heavily, virtually unable to contain himself.

Well good for him, I say – a man whose single-minded optimism – has carried your wavering weary blogger to this high point in the club’s short history. Yes, you read it right…  HIGH POINT!

Anyway for those of you who have not yet seen the Trial results for Wednesday morning, you’d better sit down to read this…

Black Mac Ace – sectional 4.86 (that’s lid-pingingly fast) with a time of 29.16 with +10 going allowance, giving 26.26. She ran full out to the pick up and actually took in another circuit such was her zest.

She’s still basically a pup, she’s inexperienced, she’s having her first run since injury, she’s having her first proper look at the track (given the injury inducing incident on her only other previous run) and she’s essentially a stayer anyway!

As you may realise I’m not one for hyperbole or flowery rhetoric but for f*** sake we might have a class hound on our hands, and I’m going to shout it from the rooftops because we need to have a dream!

Well actually I’m not going to shout it from rooftops as I struggle with heights but I’m sending ‘mad dog’ up to the top of Tolworth Tower on Saturday and he’s gonna be hoarse outside * by the time he climbs down.

And if all this isn’t enough for our success starved stoics, Woody seems to be none the worse for being short one toe and, given we’re on a roll, we might still let him take his chance in the H3 on Friday…

…only joking. But those close to our convalescing cannine are cautiously optimistic that he will be able to race again within the next couple of months.

*apologies – doesn’t quite work
