We’re aiming to congregate at the restaurant area for about 7.00pm. There will be a seating plan for our group so check that out before you take a seat. If you don’t have a members badge, or if your party doesn’t, go to the turnstiles and quote norahmac racing club restaurant booking. Once into the track, the restaurant is situated up the stairs and at the far end of the main stand.

Please order your two allotted bottles of wine per table as this is part of the paid package.  Additional drinks will be charged to the table on the night.

If you know of people who want to join the club we will accept new members on the night – we will have some membership certificates with us. The cost is £150 through to Feb. 28th 2012, or £400 through to Feb 28th 2013. Cash or cheques payable to norahmac racing club. We have places for new members but they are limited as we are very keen to cap membership at fifty, in order to keep the family/personal vibe that is proving so successful within the club.

It looks like the club will be featured in the Racing Post on Saturday, thanks to their Wimbledon correspondent Richard Birch.

On the night we have Wendy’s Bitch of the month presentation, six sponsored races with trophies for the race winners, a parade of Kennel stars; Sizzlers Spirit, Cloheena Cash and Pigalle Star. Fun and games in the restaurant with greyhound bingo and a top tipster competition, and Norah and the kennel staff will be joining us for the frivolities.

By the way it looks like there are some errant apostrophes in the race titles so if you spot them donate a £1 to the Welfare!

Whether you’re a form student or a pinsticker – get involved in our tipping competition. It’s simple – nominate four selections between the 8.15pm and 10pm races and hand in your selections to the promo girls before 8.15pm.

The winner will be the entrant with most wins/points. In the event of a tie there will be a draw from a hat. The cost per entry is £2 – profits going to Wimbledon Welfare. A club member winner gets Wendy’s August ‘win’ trophy – the first trophy ever won by the club! If the winner is not a club member then the highest scoring club member gets the trophy. The winner also receives a £25 cash prize.

Greyhound Bingo will be offered to all our guests.  It’s £2 per card, or six for £10 subject to availability, and all monies raised go straight to Wimbledon Greyhound Welfare as all prizes have been generously donated by club members.  The first Club Member shouting “House” will have the Honour of winning HANOVER LADY’S (Wendy) ‘Bitch Of The Month’ Trophy. In the event of a tie – it will be a question and answer shoot-out about the club! There will also be ‘gift’ prizes for all winners and mad-dog Maunders is giving his Mumm’s champagne away. If you want the trophy though – you have to be a member!

To buy your bingo cards seek out the ‘blonde’  norahmac Promo Girls or find a co-ordinator.
To play is simple; mark off the numbers as they are generated by each Race Result throughout the night. eg.  trap 3 beats trap 5, the number to mark off is 35. Its a bit of fun and all for a great cause!

Norahmactastic Saturday night race preview, September 24th
.
A big thank you to Owen, in the Racing Office, for giving a run to all of our four club dogs on our biggest night in the norahmac club calendar.
.
We have a runner in each of the final four races on the night.  Wendy (Hanover Lady) kicks off proceedings in the 9.45, an A3. Our blue girl went darn close last week with a good run and a similar showing is expected. Her early pace may get her to the first bend untroubled and it wouldn’t take too much improvement for her to nick the prize.
.
Oscar (Lima Oscar) is on a September hat-trick and would be vying for ‘Dog of the Month’ honours if landing the A2 at 10.00pm. A career best is required in an hot heat. The toughest nut to crack in the contest may well be kennel companion and (part) club-member owned Ballymac Soul. She has really come into her own in the past few months, recently contesting the St Leger, having notched up some really impressive wins in graded contests.
.
The A3 at 10.15 provides Gino (Horse Outside) an opportunity to continue his upward curve.  Last time he showed well and clocked a decent time but he will need to put his best paw forward in what could be a tight and scrappy affair.
.
Leading on to Woody (Fleetwood Rocker) who returns to the fray in the A2 at 10.30pm, following a terribly difficult time with injuries this summer.  Unfortunately our blue lad looks up against it in this grade and the hope is that he will have a decent experience and the grader will relent a little.

Weekend 17th/18th September review

Oscar (Lima Oscar) put in another brave effort on Friday, landing his A3 in a career best, 29.35 (going incl.).  So he now races at A2 – no mean feat for a hound picked up for a song at the auctions – and all credit to Norah who has yet again proved herself master of her craft.

Great news for the club too as we are now pretty much doing what we say ‘on the tin.’  High class graders who will also contest Open races around the country. There’s little doubt that Gino (Horse Outside) will be Open racing at some point this year, whilst Woody (Fleetwood Rocker) and Wendy may well find some opportunities along the way. And Oscar could have a shot at a maiden stayers Open too.

Wendy (Hanover Lady) lost little in defeat just failing to hold on to a decent lead in her A3. Her conquereor also benefitting from a clear round, is a decent, experienced performer who is capable at the highest grade at Wimbledon.

Well done to club member owned Mwebe Hilda who put up a career best effort in the first round of the Greyhound St Leger and is in the quarter finals in the hunt to bag the £8,000 purse!
