LONGRANGE DENIS breezed into the Coronation Cup Semi-Finals with a superb run in Heat 5 of the competition at Romford last night! Unable to go the early pace he worked a nice a position just behind the front running pair of Soviet Kenny and Hometown Day. He moved a little closer going into the third bend and showing stunning pace down the back straight he swept passed the third placed Hometown Day. Forced to check at the fifth bend he had to wait before making his move off the last turn and going away he beat the John Mullins trained Soviet Kenny by two and a quarter lengths! The Maxine Locke trained Hometown Day qualified in 3rd place. It was a breath-taking display by the December 2011 son of Droopys Kewell who clocked his fastest time of 35.23 calculated over the Romford 575 metre trip. Owned by the NORAH MAC RACING CLUB ‘Denis’ has now won 7 of his last 12 races! He has a career total of 13 wins made up of Hove (8), Lifford (2) Drumbo Park, Swindon and Romford!

Dave Clark of the Racing Post wrote: Longrange Denis (34.93sec) and Droopys Bear (35.28sec) impressed with off-the-pace scores for Hove handlers Norah McEllistrim and Dean Childs respectively.

Mustang Blitz was unable to give the kennel a ‘double’ on the night when held up in a messy 400 Metre Standard Open race. He was in a reasonable position going into the first bend but there was a lot of crowding at the second and finally he was bumped at the third! Mustang Blitz clocked 24.70 calculated finishing in 4th place just under six lengths behind the David Allen trained winner Puckane Joe.
