‘Woody’ Is Off The Mark At Hove!
Friday 30th October 2015 – HOVE Report
Winners
Timberlee Lad (Woody)
TIMBERLEE LAD had been well beaten in his three runs to date but the April 14 son of Blackstone Gene out of the dam Langan Timber had gained valuable experience! He was beaten by Wilbrook Panther in a D2 Sprint on his Hove debut and the youngster was beaten by both Droopys Ferrer and Nods Lily May in two A10 runs over 515 metres. Taking advantage of the drop in grade for the A11 at 3-28 the Alf Benson owned runner opened his Hove account at the fourth attempt! Sent off the 5/2 favourite Timberlee Lad was slow away but leading at the third bend he clocked 31.21 when staying on well to beat the Wendy Short trained Complicated Toni by almost two lengths.
DROOPYS RELAX was beaten by her sister Droopys Heat when they made their Hove debuts in a D2 Sprint last Saturday night! Droopys Relax made a slow start on that occasion and finished in 5th place beaten four and a half lengths by her sister! The February 14 daughter of Mall Brandy out of the dam Droopys Safina showed good improvement to open her account in the D2 Sprint at 4-08 today. The 4/1 chance owned by Norah McEllistrim suffered crowding at the first bend but the youngster ran on well clocking 16.81 when beating the Paul Garland trained Senor Eddie by 3/4 of a length!
How Our Other Runners Fared
WINDY WARRIOR has finished close up on his last six outings and the March 13 son of Windy Millar was only beaten just over two lengths when finishing 4th to Capoola Dawn in an A8 last Friday! He ran another good race today when finishing 3rd in the A8 at 2-08. Showing good early pace he led to the run-in and clocking 30.93 he was beaten just over two lengths by the Claude Gardiner trained winner Clairkeith Tilda.
GLENVALE STEVIE has been in pretty good form recently but the November 11 son of Paddys Flame hasn’t always enjoyed the best of runs! He suffered crowding when beaten just over three lengths by Swift Merlot in a D1 Sprint last Friday but was made the 3/1 favourite for the D1 Sprint at 2-47. Quick away he held every chance clocking 16.56 when finishing in 2nd place beaten just 3/4 of a length by the Seamus Cahill trained winner Guinness Sun.
DATA OLLY is in good form at present and has won two of his last five races! Although the June 2013 son of Head Bound has been beaten on his last two runs he has still clocked good times! A 5/1 chance for an A4 last Wednesday he clocked an impressive 30.39 calculated when finishing 3rd to Quivers Reef and despite finishing 3rd again today in the A4 at 4-27 he clocked 30.63 and was only beaten just over a length by the Paul Garland trained winner Invicta Justice.
CAUSEILOVEYOU has been in good form and got back to winning ways when beating
Angry Cookie by 3/4 of a length on the 7th October! He was also baulked at the first bend today and clocked 16.89 when finishing in 5th place just over four lengths behind the winner!
ABBEYS ZENYATTA suffered a fall in a race on the 9th October and the April 13 daughter of Droopys Kewell was rested! She clocked 30.87 in a comeback Trial on the 17th October and was a 4/1 chance on her return in A7 grade last Saturday! Unfortunately Abbeys Zenyatta suffered crowding at the first bend and finished 6th to Get On Pippa. Sadly it was the same story again today in the A7 at 6-11.
