Review – Wendy wins by a whisker!!

A most deserved win for our wonderfully consistent Wendy (Hanover Lady), who finally breaks her Hove hoodoo, in front of the Racing Post TV cameras last Thursday.  Our blue girl made the most of her red jacket and held the lead through to the line, holding off decent opposition by the narrowest of margins. That’s wins for all the club strength currently racing  (Ellen due to start trialing soon) at the seaside venue.  A great start!

On Sunday’s classy Open card, Lenny (Droopys Leonard) showed up well enough and would perhaps have grabbed gold if not leaving the lids in an uncustomary tardy fashion. A run full of hope.

Oscar (Oscar Lima) seeks to go one better than last week, contesting the A6 at 2.27pm on Wednesday’s BAGS card.  In stripes, Oscar can hope for a clear run and may have enough in the tank to close down the likely pace in the race from trap three, the upgraded hat-trick seeking Pablos Antic.

Update 23/7 – late change Wendy (Hanover Lady) gets a late call up and is ‘put in’ the D1 at 3.48pm.  This is a tougher heat than the one in which Wendy scored last week with a couple of classy sorts boxed wide.  That said, the red jacket, and an inexperienced (around Hove’s sprint trip) rival in two, gives our blue a decent frame and a chance should there be any scrimmaging on the outer. Fingers crossed.

Thursday’s RPTV card is an all Open affair – the club does not have any representatives though Norah has a decent entry through the card so fingers crossed for kennel success.

Shred-ex, the spread betting firm, are betting either side off the 14 to 18 minute mark for the now cult Gary Maunders’ Norahmac Racing Club promoting e-mail.  My guess very early doors – I’ll go unders!

Friday’s lunchtime BAGS features Lenny (Droopys Leonard) having a crack at a decent A2 at 1.12pm. Lenny ran very well in defeat in an Open last Sunday and has decent prospects if able to bypass the useful ‘five-dog’ and poach an early lead.

In the following event  ‘Horse’ Outside seeks back to back wins, contesting the A4 at 1.27pm.  A decent frame has our black and white pitched up to the rails, with the ‘two-dog’ not boasting much early pace on his form card. Fingers crossed Horse retains his mojo. He’ll be hard to head if he gets to the front around the first bend.

Saturday’s evening schedule includes an A6 contest at 9.07pm with Oscar (Lima Oscar) getting another crack at race night action this week.  Our black lad had every chance in Wednesday’s race, finishing third,  but has a marginally easier ride in this, being the sole wide seed.

The D1 sprint at 12.27 on Sunday’s lunchtime card is a heat full of interest with the kennel providing three runners; the club’s Wendy (Hanover Lady) is berthed in red, with Rally Town (trap two) and Ballymac Arron (trap six) both also owned by club members. The non-Norahmac  runners are no slouches and it’s yet another incredibly tight contest put on by the Hove racing office team.

That’s six runs in a week’s racing for Norahmac Racing Club representatives – a record entry, what fun and what great value!

We’ve a very limited number of membership spaces available for the rest of this Norahmac year (through to February 2013) for anyone thinking about experiencing the thrill of ownership, or developing their ownership portfolio.
