BIG NEWS
Norah can now confirm that the club has purchased Memories Leah, a March ’11 blue bitch.
A link to the IGB website from the Stars Of Our Show page provides full details of breeding and her two runs to date.
Many young bitches coming over from Ireland go into season. However, whilst all is clear Leah will be marked up and trialled in at Hove. In any event we very much have time on our side and it’s all about 2013 for our newest recruit.
An exciting prospect, in time Norah imagines Leah can develop into an Open class stayer.
That brings the club’s current racing strength back to five, added to the hope that Droopys Ellen may still represent us later in the year if shaking off her quirks.
There’s also a possibility that the club may bring something home from the forthcoming Henlow Sales (Sunday, September 30th – be there or be square). So it’s all systems go as we move through to the second half of our second year.
Preview
The 4.08pm on Wednesday’s afternoon card sees the Norahmac club team swing into action. Oscar (Lima Oscar) takes up the mantle in an A7 that would be within his compass. That said, the frame of the race suggests there may be traffic problems middle to wide so Oscar, in stripes, may well take his widest line if not securing an early pitch. Perhaps a race to savour rather than to invest?
Later on the card Lenny (Droopys Leonard) lines up for the A4 at 5.56pm. Lenny should secure an early lead over his sole wide-seeded rival and doesn’t face anything as strong as last week’s conqueror, Tornaroy Trooper. That said, it’s a decent line up for the grade and our lad would need to be close to his best to secure gold.
Wendy (Hanover Lady) is, somewhat, paying the penalty for a summer’s worth of success and consistency in that she, again, finds herself contesting another hot D1 on Saturday’s evening card. Berthed in the rails box in the 9.41pm contest, she faces a tough task against some Open class sprinters.
Onto Sunday’s card and both Oscar (Lima Oscar) in the A7 at 12.27pm and Lenny (Droopys Leonard) in the A4 at 12.58 are recalled to action. Oscar has an easier task than in midweek given he’s likely to find a clearer passage on the outside – this heat is well withinn his grasp if putting his best foot forward.
It will be another quick run for Lenny. That said he did little wrong in defeat on Wednesday, running a strong race throughout despite a tardy start.
Horse Outside is a reserve (at time of writing) on Sunday’s card and would hold decent claims should he find himself in an A4 and a decent frame-up.
