News and Review:

We’ve gone genuinely international as we welcome a clutch of new members to our club.  We’ve Scot, Michael O, residing in well… Surrey,  Belgium incumbent Michael A, born and bred in Shepperton and finally Lee, born and bred in Hounslow, who has for the past fifteen odd years been residing in Bermuda.

Welcome to you all and thanks for supporting the club which is going from strength to strength.

Our link with Bermuda could become notable.  Lee has bought kennel inmate Call My Bluff (Jetta) as a present for his wife, Lisa, to watch on SIS in Lee’s betting shop based on the Caribbean island. And to add further interest for the shop punters, which includes a hardened and informed doggie fan base, Lee has put his club membership in the name of the shop which is called  ‘Seahorses.’

Only excuses, unfortunately, in the Springbok as Druids Abouttime faced an uphill struggle from the off with the inside drawn Green Amigo, unusually, getting a flying start.

A diary date is coming up. Note Saturday April 13th at Hove. It’s a fundraising night for the tracks Retired Greyhounds and the club, as well as some kennel owners are sponsoring. It’s hoped races will be named after recently retired heros Rally Town and Coolavenny Rock – successful kennel stalwarts for many a year.

It won’t be anything formal. Hopefully the weather will have relented and we can make our presence felt as we all meet and greet during the course of events.  It’s very likely that we’ll have club runners as well as club member owned kennel runners contesting in many of the heats.

Preview

Wendy (Hanover Lady) takes her turn come Wednesday’s meeting, having a poke at the D1 at 2.27pm. Boxed in two, this heat looks more her level following some very tough asks. Any kind of reasonable break should see our blue girl go very close.

Thursday evening’s televised card provides Oscar (Lima Oscar) a chance to get back into some kind of form with a drop in grade to A9, the 9.06. It would be timely if Oscar did decide to put his best foot forward from the six berth as there’s a trophy to be won in this modest contest. Brass monkeys or not, the Norahmac racing club trophy hunters would definitely endure an icy blast if it meant a podium presentation was in the offing!

Friday’s Good Friday matinee meeting sees Lenny (Droopys Leonard) contesting an A5 at 11.28. Though in stripes, Lenny may still have some company at the first bend with some pace likely from opponents in four and five.

Our April ’10 lad is maintaining his clockings well enough of late but the frame of his most recent runs have been less than favourable. Again, come Friday, much will depend on the run of the race and the lottery of getting a break at the traps – a nominal nibble at a working man’s (4-1 or better) price just in case?
