Review

It’s been a roller coaster this past week and it’s most unfortunate that Norah has had to change her mind over the purchase of  Ferdia Oscar.  It was a rush and we were a bit premature releasing the news because of the obvious excitement and proximity of the Derby.

The news being given out asap was to enable members to plan ahead and this has meant that we are now all a little deflated. The business side of the deal has been resolved entirely to Norah’s satisfaction and the club’s financial well being has not been affected. Norah will continue to look for something a little special for later this club year.

I’m keeping the Big News page up for a while despite the embarrassment to retain full continuity and disclosure though, of course, it can be ignored and other changes to the website will take place to update the fact that Ferdy isn’t with us.

Those that saw Druids Gaffney suffering an injury at Coventry on Sunday can be reassured that he will be retired and convalesce with Norah.  Gaffers is in good health at the time of writing given the circumstances (a broken wrist) and will be taken to the vets today.

Well done to Lenny (Droopys Leonard), hammering the field on Sunday with a five length win – the change of routine mentioned clearly did the trick. Oscar (Lima Oscar) gets through to the Owners Bonus Final at the weekend too.

We’re in the early stages of arranging our Summer Soiree for this year.  It will be as last summer, at Hove in their function room, one Saturday round about July. Full details to follow.

Twitter is going well and we’re attempting to get all late info through twittering.  Please do not reply to any tweet you may receive that you are not sure about.  Apparently it’s normal for spam to get through – just don’t reply, simply follow and tweet to Norah if you want to play safe and are unfamiliar.

No Bags on Wednesday because of Tuesday’s Regency card live on Sky.

Moving forward to Sunday as Saturday’s card has not yet been published and Wendy (Hanover Lady) gets into the line-up for the Sprint Open at 12.12pm. There’s no getting away from the fact that there’s plenty of class in the contest and our blue girl will need a snappy exit from the trap one box and some congestion to get a sniff of the trophy.

It’s an all-sponsored card with trophies for all races on Saturday.

Oscar (Lima Oscar) lines up for the Owner’s Bonus £500  at  9.07pm with £100 on offer for others.  We might have to settle for the ‘ton’ with Oscar finding himself in virtually uncharted territory that is the black box (trap four). The one dog has a solo, being the only rails seed, in a race that is virtually impossible to call given the surfeit of middle and wide contenders. Fingers crossed for a safe passage.

Earlier Horse Outside contests the 8.02pm, an A5 from trap one. Our Sept ’09 whelp will need to improve on his recent performances to get into the mix. He’s on the comeback trial though so there’s some hope he’ll make a medal position.

The A4 at 10.13pm proves the next challenge for Lenny (Droopys Leonard) who’s looking to land a double, following his five length success last week. He has a novice on his inside and a couple of in and out performers elsewhere in the line-up so, with a decent break, must have a fair just to be in the mix.

Remember to get on down to the presentation podium should we be lucky enough to win anything – it’s always the more the merrier should it come to celebrating!
