Review and News

On the social front the date for the Summer Soiree has yet to be finalised so ‘hold yer horses’ regarding babysitters and quiz nights etc.  As soon as the date is finalised it will be announced on the Norahmac twitter site, and on the following website update.

Whilst the kennel, on the whole, remains in very good form the news is not so great from a club perspective. Norah reports, ” Dessie (Droopys Design) to an injury in his run last week and will be x-rayed in the next few days to consider the extent of the damage. It looks like the ‘easy list’ for a few months for our youngster.

Gilbert (Ferdia Oscar) took a knock whilst contesting the honours in his Peterborough Derby Quarter Final and will be taking a trip to the Chiropractor as he seems a little sore in the shoulder.”

A reminder that Molly (Classy Molly) is in season. Better news on Lenny (Droopys Leonard) who will have his final hurdles trial next week at Sittingbourne. The plan thereafter will be to run in graded hurdles, at Sittingbourne, and possibly hurdle competitions from some time in August.

A big well done to club supporters Mick and Debbie with the success of their pup Ted (Ballymac Marine) in the Puppy Open Final at Sittingbourne last Sunday.

Mick and Debbie have been great supporters of the club over the years, and especially in the early stages. Pictures of Debbie with ‘Ted’ at just a few weeks old, last summer, are on our pictures page http://norahmacracingclub.co.uk/image-gallery/our-club-in-pictures/

Also the pups were flagged up as useful types in Norah’s annual preview – so we can’t complain that we weren’t told of their star potential.

Advance notice that the kennel won’t have runners at Hove on Sunday due to an International Cycle Race in Surrey which prevents the van getting to Nevill Road.

Instead, with the race scheduled to have passed by the afternoon, Norah intends to have runners at Sittingbourne on their evening card. The Kent venue offers a decent night’s racing and is well worth a visit on a balmy Sunday evening. This correspondent can recommend the Three Course Sunday Supper for a ‘tenner’ to anyone venturing to Central Park Stadium come the weekend.

Back To BAGS and Wednesday’s card sees plenty of action from club representatives.

Kicking off, Oscar (Lima Oscar) continues to ply his trade in the heady heights of  A7 grade. Trap five in the 2.27pm and not the ideal berth at a level that tests our four-year-old veteran to his limit. So it’s simply fingers crossed for another decent run whilst Oscar appears to remain in very good heart.

Perhaps the focus of club interest, on the day, lies with the reappearance of Leah (Memories Leah) in the A3 at 5.22pm. Our March ’11 girl competes from trap three but could still get the better of early exchanges on the inside. She’s been either highly tried or unlucky in her runs of late and this heat presents a reasonable opportunity to make her presence felt on the way to Open contests over the stayers’ trip.

Completing our trio of aspirants, Horse Outside contests the A4 at 6.11pm. A rails pitch should help in what is a very tricky affair. A clear run would entitle our white and black to be somewhere close to the money come the jamstick.

Friday morning’s card features Wendy (Hanover Lady), taking her chance from trap one in the D1 at 12.42pm. There’s a couple of potentially useful types in opposition – kennelmate Glenvale Stevie and Britania Oi Oi – but Wendy has a big edge in experience. Can she show the newbies the way home?

Following her bizarre incident at the traps in her run on Wednesday, Leah (Memories Leah) gets an Open race opportunity in the, 721pm,  Maiden Stayers at Sittingbourne on Sunday.

Our blue youngster made up a tremendous amount of ground following her dozen length loss on stumbling at trap exit. She appears in good heart, and may be waiting for this longer distance to show her mettle.
