A Challenging Night At Hove For Our Open Runners!

BALIBO MAGS finished in 2nd place beaten just under six lengths by Corrin Mall in last weeks Heat 2 of the HOVE THURSDAY NIGHT 475 Metre Open Competition but she was sent off the 20/1 outsider for last nights Final! Despite being baulked at the 1st bend the July 14 daughter of Razldazl Rioga owned by the Norah Mac Racing Mags syndicate remained prominent until tiring off the last bend! Clocking 28.65 (-30) 28.35 calculated ‘Mags’ lost out on 3rd place right on the line and beaten ten lengths by the impressive Corrin Mall, trained by Kevin Cobbold, she had to settle for 4th place!

SPIDERMAN, the BGOA ‘Graded Sprinter Of The Year’, led all the way to beat Dafaoite Junior by 3/4 of a length in a D1 Sprint last Friday but the June 14 son of Razldazl Jayfkay owned by Mr J. Ford was a 16/1 shot for the CORAL SPRINT Open race! Baulked at the 1st bend he was never able to make a challenge and finishing in 5th place he clocked 16.83 (-15) 16.68 calculated when beaten just over four lengths by the Seamus Cahill trained winner Glencroft Rumble.

MUSTANG MILO clocked a very impressive 30.18 calculated in a solo Trial over 515 metres at Hove last Saturday but the December 13 son of Milldean Panther owned by Debbie Williams & Mick McCrory was a 20/1 chance for the HOVE STANDARD Open race. Baulked at the 1/4 mark he clocked 30.87 (-30) 30.57 calculated when finishing in 6th place beaten just under eight lengths by Shaneboy Russell who is trained by Elizabeth & Rab McNair.

SIZZLERS HAWK held every chance when 3rd beaten two lengths by Swift Watson in a D1 Sprint last Thursday. A 3/1 chance for the VISIT CORAL.CO.UK 475 Open race last night the July 14 son of Vans Escalade owned by Dave & Joy Cook was always racing in 2nd place! No match on the night for the impressive winner Black Zack he clocked 28.46 (-30) 28.16 calculated when finishing in 2nd place beaten just under twelve lengths by the Richard Rees trained runner. INDEPENDENT JACK finished 3rd beaten three lengths by Ballymac Rian in a D2 Sprint on the 22nd March and the August 13 son of Kinloch Brae owned by the Norah Mac Racing Club was sent off a 16/1 shot last night! Baulked on the run-up ‘Jack’ found further ‘trouble’ at the 4th bend and clocking 28.66 (-30) 28.36 calc. he finished in 4th place beaten just over fourteen lengths by the winner.

MANNIX SID was 5th beaten just under six lengths by Spiderman in a D1 Sprint last Friday and the September 15 son of Superior Product was sent off a 6/1 chance for the D1 Sprint at 6-28. Although suffering crowding at the 1st bend he clocked 16.68 (-10) 16.58 calculated when finishing in 3rd place beaten just 3/4 of a length by the Tony Taylor trained winner Pennys Tael.

ASSERT was beaten eight lengths by Ballybeg Brae when finishing 6th in an A7 last Saturday and the July 14 son of Skywalker Ace was a 6/1 chance down in grade for the A8 at 7-01. Slow away and crowded at the 3rd bend he clocked 31.42 (-30) 31.12 calculated when finishing in 3rd place beaten five lengths by Maglass Patch who is trained by Ken Tester.
