Donnas Gift Is Still Going Strong!
SATURDAY NIGHT “DOUBLE” AS SATELLITE FEVER AND DONNAS GIFT WIN!
Saturday Night HOVE Report
Winners
Hats off to the veteran DONNAS GIFT who will turn six in August for setting up a kennel double at Hove on Saturday night! The Aug 2008 son of Ballymac Maeve has had a fantastic career with eight wins at Lifford, two wins at Dundalk, four wins at Sheffield and this victory was his thirteenth at Hove! Owned by Patrick O’Grady and Gaynor Renwick he was quick away in the A7 at 7-31 and led to the fourth and showing great heart he came again on the run in to beat the Wendy Short trained All Excuses a length! Donnas Gift clocked a decent 30.70 (-20) 30.50 calculated as he took his career total to 27 wins!
SATELLITE FEVER had been upped two grades for an impressive win last Saturday and he confirmed that form with another powerful run when taking the A4 at 9-07 by almost two lengths. Owned by Bob, Sue and Sam Hadley the youngster, sent off the 6/4 favourite, showed early pace and racing wide he led at 1/2 way and stayed on strongly clocking 30.10 (-10) 30.00 calculated. The Feb 2012 son of College Causeway has now won three of his last four races and this was his 4th career win. Purchased from the Satellite Kennels of Irish Breeder Jimmy Jones in Listowel, County Kerry, Satellite Fever should go on to better things!
How Our Other Runners Fared
Summerfield Bell was on a hat-trick for the A7 at 7-46 but despite a good break (4.18 split) she was crowded on the run up and at the first and second bends! Sent off the 6/4 favourite she finished 5th clocking 31.09 (-20) 30.89 calculated.
Athlacca Olympic has been running too well for his own good and hasn’t had the benefit of a drop in grade that would surely help him get his head in front! He put up another good performance in the A2 at 8-02 when finishing 4th beaten just over two lengths. He was baulked and checked wide at the first bend and crowded at the third yet still clocked a very decent 30.44 (-20) 30.24 calculated.
Swift Debbie was looking for her 11th career win in the A6 at 8-18 and very nearly achieved it! She showed early pace but was crowded at the fourth bend and was beaten just over a length by the Wayne Wrighting trained Cill Dubh Colin finishing 2nd clocking 30.67 (-10) 30.57 calculated.
Trouble in running put paid to the chance of Droopys Bertha in the Owners Bonus Series Final (A6) at 8-51. She went into the race as the fastest from the qualifying heats but was crowded at the first bend and baulked at the third and finished back in 5th place clocking 30.99 (-10) 30.89 calculated.
Swift Messi was on a run of six 2nds but that came to an end in the A8 at 9-24 but sadly for ‘Lionel’ it was a third place and not a win his dedicated owners got! However it was still a good run from the veteran as he was slow away but fast into the first bend only to find crowding at the second. He managed to lead to the third bend but faded into third place clocking 31.04 (-10) 30.94 calculated. Sizzlers Big Boy was beaten a distance in this race with no time recorded. He was crowded at the first bend and baulked and fell at the third. He will be thoroughly checked over at the kennels this morning.
The Racing Clubs Hanover Lady had a mountain to climb in the D1 at 10-13 and her 14/1 odds reflected that fact! She was baulked on the run in and did well to finish 4th, clocking 16.85 (-5) 16.80 calculated, four lengths behind the Derek Knight trained winner Doctor Dave.
Cause Of Justice climbed the ranks at Hove very quickly with a run of wins and finds himself in A2 grade which is a little tough on the youngster. His chance in the 10-30 race on the card was not helped by a slow start and crowding at the first two bends. ‘Alfie’ finished fourth clocking 30.96 (-10) 30.86 calculated.
