‘Veterans’ Show They’re Still Full Of Life!
TWO KENNEL VETERANS ARE OUR STARS AT HOVE TODAY!
Donnas Gift and Swift Messi have competed in a total of 246 races between them! They have won a total of 47 races between them and they are both still enjoying their racing at Hove. They showed their younger kennel mates how it was done today as they notched up a ‘double’ for the kennel.
Wednesday 2nd April HOVE Report
Winners
DONNAS GIFT was knocked over recently but he showed there was no lasting effects as he won on his comeback! The August 2008 son of Ballymac Maeve ran on well to lead near the line when winning the A7 at 2-47. Owned by Patrick O’Grady and Gaynor Renwick he beat the Claude Gardiner trained Clairkeith Jaden by 1/2 a length clocking 30.54 (+10) 30.64 calculated. Donnas Gift has raced 123 times in his career to date and has now won 28 races! This was his 14th win at Hove and in a sparkling career he has wins at Sheffield (4), Lifford (8) and Dundalk (2) on his card! The Racing Clubs Classy Molly ran in this heat but was baulked at the first bend and crowded at the fourth and finished 6th clocking 31.11 (+10) 31.21 calculated some seven lengths behind the winner!
SWIFT MESSI has been in brilliant form and has rarely been out of the first three in all his races this year. Dianne and Alf Benson think the world of the September 2009 son of Hondo Black and he delighted them again today with another of his trademark “Quick Away, Always Led” wins! He clocked 30.52 (+10) 30.62 calculated when beating his kennel mate Sizzlers Big Boy 1/2 a length in the A7 at 5-56. Sizzlers Big Boy was crowded at the first bend but ran on well clocking 30.56 (+10) 30.66 calculated to give the kennel a one-two! This was Swift Messi’s third win in his last four runs! He has had 123 races and won 19 times for the Glum Sinners with all those wins coming at Hove!
How Our Other Runners Fared
Glenvale Rosie was slow away and crowded in the A11 at 2-08 but she recovered well and ran on to finish 3rd beaten just over two lengths by the Wayne Wrighting trained Bellinter Berry. ‘Rosie’ was sent off the 9/4 joint favourite and clocked 31.06 (+10) 31.16 calculated.
Droopys Margaret bounced back to form in the A6 at 3-07 but could only manage runner up! However it was a big improvement on her recent form and she should be winning again soon. She was beaten just 3/4 of a length, by the Jason Heath trained Dacent Vieri, after leading to the run in clocking 30.48 (+10) 30.58 calculated.
We had two runners in the A6 at 3-28 and they both ran well when second and third behind run away winner Westmead Celt trained by Wayne Wrighting. Swift Debbie was crowded at the first bend but finished 2nd clocking 30.55 (+10) 30.65 calculated. While Droopys Bertha was 3rd after being baulked at the first bend. She clocked 30.61 (+10) 30.71 calculated.
Glenvale Paddy was well beaten in the A9 at 4-27 after being baulked at the first bend and crowded at the 3/4 mark. ‘Paddy’ clocked 31.26 (+10) 31.36 calculated in 6th place nine lengths behind the Dean Childs trained winner Lethal Lula.
Sporting Tracey has been running well and although finishing 5th in the A2 at 4-47 she can be forgiven the run after making a slow start. ‘Tracey’ clocked 30.39 (+10) 30.49 calculated when beaten just under four lengths by the Wendy Short trained winner Starchill Oak.
Collinstown View and Cause Of Justice both suffered trouble in running in the A3 at 5-07 but still clocked reasonable times! Collinstown View was baulked at the first bend and clocked 30.12 (+10) 30.22 calculated when beaten just over two lengths when 2nd to the Paul Garland trained Bells Of Shandon. Cause Of Justice was baulked at the 4th bend and clocked 30.27 (+10) 30.37 calculated when a further two lengths behind his kennel mate in 3rd place.
Graiguenoe Royal had every chance in the A5 at 5-22 when 2nd to the Dean Childs trained winner Roseys Options. Graiguenoe Royal clocked 30.51 (+10) 30.61 calculated.
Avite Becky was crowded at the first bend and beaten just over six lengths by the Derek Knight trained winner Questhouse Aura in the A8 at 6-11. ‘Becky’ clocked 30.90 (+10) 31.00 calculated when finishing in 5th place.
