Glenvale Stevie In Derby 2nd Round Draw!
STRONG RUN FROM THE FRONT QUALIFIES STEVIE FOR DERBY 2nd ROUND!
Friday 2nd May WIMBLEDON Result
10-35 William Hill Greyhound Derby 1st Round Heat 23
(First three qualify from this Heat)
1st El Flutter 28.92 Mark Wallis Yarmouth
2nd Gizmo Classic 28.98 John McGee Ireland
3rd GLENVALE STEVIE 29.07 Norah McEllistrim Hove
Distances: 1 length, 3/4 length
GLENVALE STEVIE qualified for the 2nd Round of the William Hill Greyhound Derby with a brave run from the front. Backed in to 7/1 from 14/1 he showed good early pace (4.83 split) and led at the first bend. Kicking on down the back straight he was still two lengths clear coming round the final two bends. He tired on the run in but held on to third place to go through! The time of this Heat (last race) was not fast but the track had cut up by then. The race was won by 6/4 favourite El Flutter (Harolds Cross Puppy Derby finalist) who beat Gizmo Classic (3/1) by one length. Gizmo Classic has won 20 races in his native Ireland including the 2013 Gains Feeds Irish Cesarewich at Mullingar. Glenvale Stevie (7/1) was just 3/4 of a length behind the runner-up.
