Tough 2nd Round Derby Draw For Stevie!
GLENVALE STEVIE Races on Friday Night
Glenvale Stevie will have to trap well and lead into the first bend, as he did last Friday, to try and hold off some talented runners in his 2nd Round Heat of the William Hill Greyhound Derby. A bit of first bend crowding in behind would help his chance of qualification against strong opposition from the powerful kennels of Paul Young, Rab & Liz McNair, Paul Hennessy and Seamus Cahill.

NO WINS SUNDAY BUT SWIFT MESSI GOES CLOSE TO SCORING!
Sunday 4th May HOVE Report
Swift Messi was so unlucky not to add to his impressive tally of 19 Hove wins today when he was mugged on the line by the Dean Childs trained Romeo Duty Bound. “Lionel” railed well and was always front rank in the A6 at 11-42. He led to near the line but was beaten a neck into the runner-up spot clocking 30.70 (-20) 30.50 calculated.
Droopys Margaret was up in grade for a recent win but she was baulked at the first and third bends in the A4 at 12-27 and never figured. Droopys Margaret clocked 30.80 (-10) 30.70 calculated when finishing 5th beaten around seven lengths by the Maria Collins trained winner Swift Danny.
We had two runners in the D1 sprint at 12-41 and it was Princess Jetta who came out on top of our pair but her effort was not a victorious one! ‘Jetta’ was quick away and led to the first bend where she was crowded and finally finished 3rd clocking 16.94 (-5) 16.89 calculated just under four lengths behind the Paul Garland trained winner Slaheny Crystal. The Racing Clubs Horse Outside was returning to action after injury and he was very slow away and crowded at the start. ‘Gino’ clocked 17.11 (-5) 17.06 calculated in 6th place some six lengths behind the winner.
Mikeys Guest was crowded at the first bend in the A4 at 12-58 and that did not help his cause. He was 3rd beaten about three lengths, clocking 30.71 (-10) 30.61 calculated, by the Paul Garland trained Newtown Skipted.
The Racing Clubs Hanover Lady had every chance in the D1 sprint at 1-12 but finally finished 5th beaten four lengths by the Paul Garland trained winner Invicta Sable. Hanover Lady clocked 16.89 (-5) 16.84 calculated.
Ballymac Benefit was sent off the 6/4 favourite for the A5 at 1-44 but his supporters failed to collect as he was beaten into third place, just under two lengths, behind the Claude Gardiner trained winner Ballyregan Shana. ‘Benny’ was crowded at the third bend and clocked 30.53 on the normal going.
Watch Matt was dropped a grade and led from the third bend to the run in before fading in the A5 at 1-58. He was beaten just under two lengths into 3rd place clocking 30.74 (Normal). The race was won by the Jason Heath trained Katies Causeway.
