Some changes to yesterday’s update, some Open race news and a word to the wise.

Horse Outside (Gino) is responding to the anti-biotics to, what has turned out to be, a rather bad sore throat infection, and this following his first infection. Hopefully he is now on the mend and there is some light at the end of the tunnel.

Black Ace Mac (Rumble) seems fine and is expected to trial later this week. Norah isn’t sure where yet.

Fleetwood Mac (Woody) wasn’t allotted a trial at Wimbledon on Wednesday because additional trials have been put on for the Derby aspirants. He will trial later in the week at Hove, Sittingbourne or Romford.

Open Race Kennel News

As reported Zodiac Zeus lines up Wednesday at Peterborough for the final of the Puppy Derby. Fingers crossed for a big run – Norah believes he is plenty capable but it’s a hot race and there are no seeded middle or wide runners..

Norah expects to have a number of runners at Romford on Friday night. Pigalle Star, following a long lay off, runs in the Bitches Open. Notwithstanding being a fourteen time winner at the track it’s a big ask for her to come back and win after such a long break from track action. Other likely runners at the Essex venue include Lorrahs Best and Coolavenny Honey.

After some very decent runs in sprints Rally Town takes his chance in a Derby Trial Open at Wimbledon over the weekend. He’s fully fit now and is back on home turf – a bold show can be expected.

There may be more weekend entries so check back for another update or see the Racing Post greyhound section for further details.

Boherash Einri

This kennel stalwart takes his final bow, following a long and honourable career, in his own race; The Boherash Einri Retirement Stakes at Wimbledon on Friday night.

Owned by club members, Norman and  Dave, the August 2005 dog has been as reliable and honest as his owners, chasing the bunny around Plough Lane since February 2007.

With  an amazing 158 runs and 27 victories to his credit, we wish him well in retirement.

Hopefully Enri’s career could end in a blaze of glory. Lodged in his favoured trap 6 berth, still capable of posting a respectable time and dropped down into not the strongest A5 of all time, a couple of quid on the nose wouldn’t be the worst investment in the world.
