A busy period and much to report…
THE BIG NEWS IS THAT WE NOW HAVE TWO NEW ADDITIONS TO OUR CLUB KENNEL STRENGTH; DROOPYS ELLEN AND DROOPYS LEONARD (full details on The Stars of the Show page).
HIGH CLASS, WELL-BRED YOUNGSTERS FROM THE WORLD RENOWNED, AND HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL, DROOPYS-STUD.
THEIR POTENTIAL IS LIMITLESS AND NORAH IS VERY EXCITED WITH THIS AQUISITION WHICH HAS BEEN PLANNED FOR SEVERAL WEEKS.
SO WE HAVE SIX RACERS ON THE STRENGTH, TOP GRADE OR OPEN CLASS POTENTIAL – FANTASTIC VALUE IN GREYHOUND OWNERSHIP.
An amendment to membership this year. We are now limiting membership to forty certificates – rather than fifty. However, we are taking shared (up to two) memberships within the same certificate. This is minor really, and seems to be more in keeping with the reality as a significant proportion of members are coupled up anyway.
Check out the previous Post. ‘Successful Sunday Sheffield Sales Swoop’ for a full rundown of Sunday’s (March 4th) trip up to Sheffield Greyhound Sales, and the resultant boost to the club and kennel greyhound strength.
Review
In a low key week, results were modest last Friday. Wendy struggled from a less than speedy start and in A2 class can’t afford a missed break. Horse Outside ran a sound race to finish fourth in his A1 also suffering a troublesome passage. He showed decent pace down the back straight and seemed to be much more involved in proceedings despite the bumpy ride. So we can be more optimistic that he is straight and ready to show better form in his upcoming outings.
Perhaps time for a word about ourĀ ‘journeyman.’ A quiet, unassuming sort both on and off the track, no-one can deny that Oscar (Lima Oscar) always puts his best foot forward on race nights.
Last week (in Horse Outside’s A1) our black lad put in a career best performance, getting the bronze in top grade. Oscar has progressed all the way through the grades (including before he joined our club) without ever winning in spectacular style. He’s popped up at some pretty decent odds as he continued to ‘outwit’ his opponents though has never clocked a proper A1 time.
He’s stayed out of trouble in races and, despite this caution leaving him having to do it the hard way, has grabbed gold on five occasions for the club. Long may he ply his wide course, continuing to give us pride and pleasure in our association with this son of Balintore Brave.

Well this Saturday, May10th, has our three fit hounds all out strutting their stuff in front of one hundred and ten (plus?) Norahmac club members, kennel owners, friends and associates.
We are hoping to go at least one better than our September ‘Big Night Out’ when club runners drew a blank on the night. We can’t complain with the entry and race frames for Saturday (thanks Owen) which have given us a decent enough chance.
Wendy (trap one) and Oscar (trap six) give us two bites at theĀ A2 cherry that is the 8.34pm contest. It’s not a soft option and both our representatives would need to equal their best performances – still they are in form and fit as fleas so fingers crossed.
We’re hoping for a fitting climax to the evening with Horse Outside taking the ‘blue’ pitch in the A1 finale. It’s a similar story with our black and white who is still on the come back trail but is clearly returning to his best. It’s not a soft race but given a clear passage we can be hopeful.
The First Anniversary Bash – arrangements.
Go to the right side of the entrance turnstiles and tell the attendant that you are eating in the restaurant with the Norahmac booking. The restaurant is upstairs at the far end. At the reception you will be told which is your table – if there’s no-one at reception look out for Debbie (Bubbles) or the Norahmac promo girls (lots of blonde hair and a norahmac sash) and they’ll give you directions to your table.
Make as much noise as you can if the club or the kennel has a winner – let the stand know we’re there! Make an effort to get to know your fellow members/kennel owners. Leave a tip for the waiting staff if you want though we have set a modest sum aside to give anyway this time. All are welcome to join the trophy presentation for the Norahmac race – or if we win a trophy for the club (fingers crossed).
If you’re not a member yet, or know some-one who you think would enjoy the benefits of membership – join on the night!
In any event – HAVE FUN!
