RISING ROCKET – REDSTAR POPPY – SIZZLERS APOLLO – All Finish 2nd!

RISING ROCKET showed plenty of promise on his Hove debut in the D3 Sprint at 8-34 last night. A 7/2 chance the August 14 son of Farley Blitz ran on well to finish in 2nd place clocking 16.66 (Normal) when beaten just a short-head by Kates Jet who is trained by Seamus Cahill. Kennel mate MOANTEEN DEXTER was 3rd beaten three and a half lengths by Postman Mac on his Hove debut last Saturday and the April 16 son of Boherna House filled the same spot again! A 3/1 shot the youngster held every chance clocking 16.88 (Normal) when finishing in 3rd place beaten three lengths by the winner.
Off the track for nine weeks REDSTAR POPPY last raced in A5 grade on the 16th July where she finished behind Pennys Tael. Returning from injury the February 14 daughter of Kinloch Brae was a 7/2 chance for the A6 at 8-51 and she very nearly made it a winning comeback! Showing good early pace ‘Poppy’ led from the 1st bend to the run-in only to be caught close home by the Jason Heath trained winner Bayliss Boy. Clocking a decent 30.56 (Normal) she was beaten just 1/2 a length in the runners-up spot!
SIZZLERS APOLLO was beaten just under three lengths by Stellars Avenger last outing and the September 13 son of Droopys Scolari was made a 4/1 chance for the D1 Sprint at 9-24. Always on the heels of the leader he held every chance and clocking 16.51 (Normal) he finished in 2nd place beaten just a length by Brexit who is trained by Jason Heath. Kennel mate DROMANA HERO was beaten two and a half lengths by Westmead Julie last Saturday and the October 14 son of Mall Brandy was sent off the 7/4 favourite. After checking wide at the 2nd bend he finished in 5th place clocking 16.84 (Normal) when beaten five lengths by the winner.
DATA OLLY was beaten just under ten lengths by Romeo Speedster last Saturday and the June 13 son of Head Bound was a 7/1 chance for the A8 at 9-57. Despite making a slow start and suffering crowding on the run-up he made late headway to finish in 3rd place clocking 31.47 (Normal) when beaten just over six lengths by Key Tactics who is trained by Tony Taylor.
SPIDERMAN finished in 3rd place beaten a length and a half by Westmead Julie last Saturday and the June 14 son of Razldazl Jayfkay was a 9/2 chance the D1 Sprint at 10-13. Crowded at the 1st bend he was unable to recover and finishing in 6th place he clocked 16.87 (Normal) when beaten just over seven lengths by the Derek Knight trained winner Jackals Pavlova.
The D1 Sprint at 7-31 was marred by a nasty incident at the first bend where five of the runners came together which resulted in Wheres Oscar (Seamus Cahill) falling and FLACKWELL SPIRIT being brought down! Although beaten a distance Wheres Oscar completed but Flackwell Spirit was not so lucky and sustained a fracture to his leg. Our other runner SIZZLERSCHEYENNE was very badly bumped at the 1st bend and was well beaten finishing in 4th place. The race was won by Thischapsinwork (Jamie Kingsley) who had avoided the trouble racing out wide.
Norah reported this morning that Sizzlerscheyenne is fine and Flackwell Spirit is comfortable and on his way to the vets.
