Action, Friday 19th/20th and deposits…
Oscar (Lima Oscar) get a sole wide seeding in ‘stripes’ in the 8.00pm (A4) on Friday at Wimbledon. Hopefully he will have a clear, particularly down the back straight, so that he can make full use of his staying power.
Wendy (Hanover Lady) now hits the heady heights of A3 grade later in the evening at 9.45pm. Again in ‘blue’ she will need to make use of her early pace to ward off some decent class opposition.
There’s a whole host of other club members’ dogs on the card so it should be a sociable evening whatever the results. Come and join us merry folk and mad-dog Maunders in the seating area above the first bend. We’ll be congregated around the two seats that aren’t covered in pigeon shit!
Saturday at Wimbledon features the first round of the Greyhound Grand National. Unfortunately we haven’t a runner in this event this year given Woody’s unfortunate series of injuries. However, later on the card Gino (Horse Outside) gets another chance to get off the mark, contesting the 9.30pm, an A6. A trap three berth isn’t what the doctor ordered so we can only keep our fingers crossed that our youngster will finally show us the talent he displayed in his early trials.
The club has three runners out this week-end and this amount of action offers greyhound ownership at an unrivalled price. The feedback generally, since we’ve had runners racing regularly, has been very positive and the plans ongoing will be to retain a club kennel strength which provides regular action even if we can’t always have runners at the highest level all the time.
It’s the best of both worlds really and a very inexpensive introduction to the world of greyhound ownership, or a great complement to an existing owner’s kennel strength. Unbeatable value.
