After the Big Night Out – the review…
An huge thank you to those who helped organise and run the event.
A big thank you to those at the track who worked really hard to enable the evening to run smoothly. It was a first go, and a pretty big show to keep on the road.
All agreed it was a great value evening and the generosity of the track, providing a surfeit of tote vouchers, was gratefully accepted.
On the night it appeared everyone had loads of fun, and some had a few winners. Well done to club member Nigel Roberts who owns kennel winner Incredible Miss, a success that made the evening for Nigel and his numerous supporters.
All the club dogs ran with credit but following recent wins were somewhat in the handicapper’s grip and, despite being given some chance in the framing of their races, our team couldn’t quite hit the high notes on the night. All are safe and well, fit to fight another day.
Competition winners:
Top tipster on the night:
Mr Bob Hadley, selected four winners from his four selections. A thoroughly deserved outright victory with Kings Scotty, Ardera Hatton, Looney United and Brinkleys Livvy. A £2 four fold would have returned about £200 but our club tipping king was more than satisfied with Wendy’s Bitch of the month Trophy and £25 first prize!
An honourable runner up was Mrs Val Maunders.
Bingo, doggie fashion competition:
Matt (from Corals) a guest in the Debbie and Floyd entourage picked up a bottle of champagne with the first shout of ‘house.’
Mr Bob Enright didn’t call house but called maisonette which was enough to take the minor honours. And as a club member, Bob collects Wendy’s (and the clubs’) first win Trophy. A momento that, one day, could have enormous collectable value. Well done Bob!
Many thanks to you all who gave generously, supporting the competitions. The club raised a further £200 to go with our £200 sponsorship money toward the Wimbledon Greyhound Welfare.
Pictures were taken throughout the evening and they will be loaded on to the image page in the next few days.
The next Big Night Out will be early January and be medium sized! In March we hope to do an evening, similar to the September event, to celebrate our first birthday.
