480 metre Hurdle (solo) Fleetwood Rocker Rails to middle, Jumped Well 29.69 going Normal

480 metre Flat (3 dog trial) Horse Outside Middle, Led 1/2 29.50 Won by 8 Lengths going Normal

Woody and Gino both completed their trials in fine style Wednesday (18th) morning.

Gino didn’t ping the traps, and was led to the first bend, but powered around his two trial rivals coming into the back straight,  taking command by halfway.  Most pleasingly he ran straight and true, looking particularly genuine and seeming to stay on through to the finish. A very decent show from the pup who is still three months away from his second birthday. He had a decent blow after the race and will strip much fitter next time.

Woody ran as well as could be hoped as he also develops his race fitness. He jumped well throughout his solo trial, ran straight and with zest. He very slightly lost his footing on the bend out of the back straight but for which he may have posted a time inside 29.60.  In any event it was a very respectable performance and he looks well suited to the Plough Lane circuit.  Norah feels there are no particularly suitable hurdle events for him next week so plans another trial on the 25th May with a view to entering him for the Champion Hurdle competition at Wimbledon – heats of which are on June 4th, with the £1,500 final on the 11th.
