Review

Our current team all performed well enough last week but without success.  Having said that our new girl Leah (Memories Leah) put in a sparkling trial on Monday morning , clocking 16.76 calc.

Given it was our March ’11 pup’s first look and she’s very much a stayer, it was an extremely pleasing performance.

The Henlow jaunt on Sunday lived up to expectation.  A merry band of kennel owners and club members, numbering around thirty,  found their way to outer Bedfordshire.

A learning curve for many, there was plenty to take in. Firstly finding the sunniest spot on a beautiful autumnal morning at the  Henlow bowl,  and then sussing out the form of mostly unraced youngsters  all new to the Stondon Road sands.

Come the afternoon, it was action from the ‘off’ in the ensuing auction. Bidding was pretty fierce with all lots (bar three seemingly) finding owners.

Despite Brian almost having a stroke during proceedings, Norah settled for just the ELEVEN lots!!!!

So look out for plenty of new names joining the strength.  Only a few norahmac supporters failed to succumb to the temptation of fresh/more ownership (and they’ll be worked on in the weeks ahead no doubt) so most of us now have even more to look forward to in the months ahead.

There’s a possibility that the club may retain one of the newbies but nothing has been decided as Norah assesses the situation and gives them time to adjust. So watch this space.

In any event some of the new recruits will be syndicated so if anyone wants a ‘leg’ simply contact Norah for more information.

And so back to business with Oscar (Lima Oscar) once again being invited to particpate in A7  action (5.22pm)  on Wednesday. Similar to last week’s contest when Oscar claimed the silver medal with a sole wide seed, our journeyman has every chance to make his presence felt.

Wendy (Hanover Lady) takes to the sands contesting the D1 at 9.57pm on Saturday.  Our blue girl, in the red box, has had a little rest and will need to be sharp because there are some decent sorts in the heat, including two kennel mates who carry a decent reputation before them.

Sunday morning has Oscar (Lima Oscar) called to arms again.  Another opportunity to be missed in an A7 at 11.42am. Again in stripes, it’s hardly fair to knock our old soldier who does virtually bi-weekly stints and wins in his turn.

The A4 at 12.12pm has Lenny (Droopys Leonard) carrying the Norahmac club flag. This presents an easier task than last week. Boxed sole wide seed, Lenny looks likely to benefit from what could be a messy make-up on his inside. Any kind of clear in the early stages should see our lad go very close in a heat that is well within his compass on paper.

Completing a busy day for club runners Horse Outside could go well in the A4 at 1.28pm. There’s reason to suggest a bolder show may be on the cards than of late. That said our white and black does need a little luck to secure a safe passage early on amongst some reasonable starters either side. Anything around 7-2 or better and he’s worth a play.
