Back with a bang & thru to 17th…
Review
The kennel is getting back to good order, and this is reflected with two of our club strength returning to winning ways last week. Both Lenny (Droopys Leonard) and Oscar (Lima Oscar) landed the spoils – at good odds for those that ‘nibbled’ – to put the show well and truly back on the road.
Lenny battled on genuinely, perhaps benefitting from his recent rest, in front of Thursday’s Racing Post Greyhound TV cameras for a very spirited victory, and Oscar survived an attack from a competitor to pick up his heat on Saturday evening. Hopefully both have more to come as they return to full fitness and wont be phased should they suffer a penalty from the grader.
New recruit, Molly (Classy Molly) has been chipped and is expected to trial soon. There’s a picture and further details of our Sept ’11 girl on the Stars of the Show page. Potential Sunday walkers be warned, she’s a feisty one!

Wednesday’s card provides club action with Lenny (Droopys Leonard) lining up in an A4 at 3.48pm. There was much to like about his winning performance last week and a quick-fire double isn’t beyond his compass. Again boxed in his favoured stripes, a repeat of last week’s ‘ping’ start may be enough to secure a winning advantage. There’s early pace elsewhere in the field but the frame suggests that some bunching is likely.
Thursday’s televised (RPGTV channel 212) evening card features a host of runners from the McEllistrim kennels.
The club has Wendy (Hanover Lady) on show in the Sprint Maiden at 7.46pm. It looks like Wendy, boxed in four, has been somewhat unfortunate as this heat looks as hot a sprint maiden as there’s been for some time at Nevill Road. She really has it all to do and will have to put in a personal best to hold sway, notwithstanding tremendous luck in running.
Later in the evening Oscar (Lima Oscar) lines up in an A8 at 9.06. He’s sole wide seed in a race contested by three unexposed and inexperienced types and would need only to put his best foot forward to make his presence felt.
It’s second helpings on Sunday for Lenny (Droopys Leonard) with a tilt at an Owners Bonus jackpot. Our lad features in trap six in heat one at 12.27pm, at A5 level. So Lenny benefits from an immediate drop back down in grade after his midweek A4 outing. The first two go through, so a repeat of last week’s successful effort at this level gives Lenny every chance of a place in the final line-up.
