Ballymac Marine  –  A 10th career Win!

Nobody would begrudge BALLYMAC MARINE (kennel name – Ted) this latest win! The pride and joy of owners Debbie Williams and Mick McCrory ‘Ted’ won seven of his first fourteen races including the Romford Puppy Cup Final in 2013. He was off the track for 11 months after sustaining a serious injury in a Wimbledon trial when being prepared for a crack at the Derby! He hasn’t reached those heights since making an incredible comeback but the January 2012 son of Ballymac Bull has achieved wins at Swindon and Sittingbourne! He picked up another injury in a Derby Trial Stakes at Wimbledon in May and there was even talk of retirement but Norah and the kennel team along with the vets and physio have done a remarkable job in nursing him back to full fitness! The ‘aptly’ named Ballymac Marine has the mental attitude to go with his physical presence but he had to work hard to get the better of the Paul Garland trained runner-up Getgoin Molly in the D1 Sprint at 9-57. Sent off the 10/1 outsider Ballymac Marine got home by a ‘head’ clocking 16.71 when gaining his 10th career win! This was ‘Teds’ 3rd win at Hove and he has wins at Romford (3), Swindon (1) and Sittingbourne (3) on his card! Our two other runners both finished in rear after finding trouble at the first turn! Kizi was quick away but badly baulked at the first bend and finished in 5th place clocking 17.06 and was beaten just over four lengths by his kennel mate! Lochys Blue Boy was also badly baulked at the first and he finished in 6th place clocking 17.35 when beaten eight lengths by the winner.

WINNING RUN FOR ‘ABBEYS ZENYATTA’ CONTINUES!

ABBEYS ZENYATTA opened her Hove account on the 5th Dec 2014. It then took the April 2013 daughter of Droopys Kewell five months before she added to that success when winning an A10 on the 15th May. Since then the Michelle Chambers, Norah McEllistrim and Gaynor Renwick owned bitch has really struck form and she made it 4 wins from her last 9 runs when winning the A7 at 7-31. Sent off a 6/1 chance Abbeys Zenyatta showed good early pace and disputed the lead throughout. She was well on top at the line beating the Wendy Short trained Rowfolds Topstar by almost two lengths! Abbeys Zenyatta clocked 30.56 (her fastest time) when winning her 5th race at Hove! Kennel mate Windy Warrior ran well in 3rd place. He was crowded at the 3/4 mark and the 7/2 shot clocked 30.73 when beaten two lengths by the winner.

How Our Other Runners Fared

Fanore Breeze was sent off the 2/1 favourite for the D2 Sprint at 7-46 but she suffered crowding at the second bend and was beaten almost four lengths by the Claude Gardiner trained winner Ballinlough Boss. Fanore Breeze clocked 16.88 when finishing in 5th place. Kennel mate Glaise Spice was always behind after making a slow start and he was further held up when baulked at the second bend finally finishing in 6th place he clocked 16.92 when beaten just over four lengths by the winner.

Ballymac Chindit was a 7/2 chance for the A4 at 9-07 but he was never out of mid-division and faded to finish in 6th place clocking 30.90 when beaten just over five lengths by the Jason Heath trained winner Hoolys Joker.

Owners Debbie Williams and Mick McCrory very nearly pulled off a Hove ‘double’ but their runner Watch Matt had to settle for 2nd place in the D2 Sprint at 9-24. He was quick away but lost ground when crowded at the first bend. He recovered to chase home the Ken Tester trained winner Always Going clocking 16.91 in the runners-up spot two lengths behind the winner.

The consistent Cause Of Justice has now finished 2nd on his last three runs! The January 12 son of College Causeway again filled that position in the A3 at 10-30 when beaten just 1/2 a length by the Wayne Wrighting trained winner Woodmancote Teej. ‘Alfie’ clocked a decent 30.32 when staying on well after coming from off the pace.
