Norah McEllistrim kennel girl Kate Aris overcame her fears on Monday when she made a tandem parachute jump out of a light aircraft from 13,000 feet raising more than £2,000 for Wimbledon Greyhound Welfare – twice her original target!

Kate was one of 51 brave souls who took to the skies at the Sibson Aerodrome near Peterborough in the Fall For Hounds charity skydive. Kate reported that she thoroughly enjoyed the day but was more than happy to have both feet safely back on the ground! But she was very proud of her achievement and thanks everyone who sponsored her!

The event was organised by RPGTV and Sky Sports presenter Julie Collier who was delighted with the amount of money raised for the Retired Greyhound Trust.

The oldest to jump was Yarmouth trainer Mel Shields at 74 and the youngest was Molly Gower aged 18.

The biggest individual fundraiser was Teresa Cahill, wife of Hove trainer Seamus, who raised over £15,000.

WIMBLEDON GREYHOUND WELFARE

Wimbledon Greyhound Welfare is devoted to caring for retired racing greyhounds and finding them homes. They are self-funding and rely on the kindness and generosity of their kind supporters and the general public.

Wimbledon Greyhound Welfare care for approximately 80 – 100 greyhounds at their kennels in Turners Lane, Hersham with the majority coming from owners and trainers once their racing days are over. However , when necessary they will step in and help those less fortunate greyhounds who are at risk. They will take in all colours and personalities regardless of their homing chances.
