‘LEATHEMS DESIRE’ SET TO RUN FOR “HAND ON HEART” CHARITY!

Leading Greyhound Breeder Dave Wood of the Questhouse Kennels at Berwick-On-Tweed, who recently bred his last litter, suffered a Heart Attack on Sunday 12th April outside the Old Trafford stadium as he prepared to go in and watch his beloved Manchester City play United! Rushed to the Manchester Royal he had a stent fitted into a blocked artery and thankfully Dave has made a full recovery! Grateful for the treatment he received Dave now wants to ‘give’ something back and is raising funds for a Heart related Charity by running in a 5k Sponsored Run around Holyrood Park in Edinburgh on the 11th October! 

The Charity is called HAND ON HEART and their aim is to get Defibrillators into as many, if not every school in the UK, with this they could save many many young lives, at the moment there are around 12-16 young people dying from sudden Heart failure every week, estimated that around 270 off these each year would happen in Schools, imagine if every school had a device (Defibrillator) that could potentially save most, if not all off these kids in school, by digging deep on here you will go a long way in helping with this.

Dave has set up a Just Giving page and came up with a unique idea for Owners and Trainers to contribute to the Charity! Simply an Owner or Trainer will nominate a dog and select one race and for that race the dog will effectively run for the Hand On Heart Charity. Dave adds “Any prize money whether Winning or Also Ran, can be sent to my Just Giving Page, where by everyone can see the donation, every little bit helps and will end up making into a Package of a Defibrillator with Teacher Training and more for our chosen school, god forbid should it ever be needed but if it does we could be saving some child’s life, a small amount can mean so much in the future!”

Norah was only to happy to get involved and has nominated the Norah Mac Racing Clubs LEATHEMS DESIRE to run a ‘race’ for the Charity. ‘Winston’ is ready to return to action and he trials at Hove tonight! He will be kept racing at Hove for now as Norah is aiming to run him in the Sussex Cup and she will select a ‘race’ for the Hand On Heart Charity when she is happy with his fitness!
