A hectic week last week with a fair few winners banging in on home ground at Nevill Road.

Club highlight, Wendy’s (Hanover Lady) trophy triumph in landing the RPGTV televised Maiden Open on Thursday. This on the disqualification of the troublesome six dog who gave our girl a hard time on the run-in.

No luck for those that backed our most unlucky blue girl but a trophy presentation for those club members present and the win prize money in the coffers. The anomaly of greyhound racing rules leaves Wendy still eligible for another maiden. This verified by a call to GBGB rules guru Tom Huntley at GBGB headquarters.

There’s a decent photo added to the ‘club in pics’ page with club members Val, receiving the trophy, and Dave with team members Tim and Rachel attending Wendy.

Norah was walking on air on Sunday morning for our regular social gathering, following Cloheena Mickey’s Derby second round win Saturday night. A respectable clock added further merit and makes for an exciting week for all connected to the kennels going into the third round next Saturday.

There’s a great photo, courtesy of Steve Nash, now added to the Hall Of Fame photo gallery page, of Mickey leading superstar, Ballymac Eske, in their pre-tournament trial.

Molly (Classy Molly) had a nice trial around Sittingbourne Sunday evening to give her a change of scenery, Leah (Memories Leah) and Oscar (Lima Oscar)  have sprint trials on Monday morning. Our newbie Gilbert (Ferdia Oscar) is expected to trial at either Wimbledon,  Hove or Sittingbourne in the next week or so.

The video update of the club’s last four winners – not including Wendy last Thursday, will be added to the video gallery this week.

Twitter is the place for all the hour by hour news throughout the week – trials, runners and results virtually as they happen.  It’s really easy to connect and free.  If you’re not sure ask Phillip at the kennels or one of the co-ordinators, or anyone you know who already tweets.

Oodles of action this week, following successful Monday trials of all those named above, we have plenty of runners at the midweek meetings.

Wednesday’s BAGS meeting sees Molly (Classy Molly) lining up for the A8 at 2.47pm. Fresh from a breeze up at Central Park, Sittingbourne, on Sunday, our September ’11 whelp benefits from a decent frame. Boxed in four but with a novice on the immediate inside and wides on the outer, Molly should benefit from a lead from fast starting kennelmate, Kielduff Seppi, in trap one. A modicum of luck in running should see the daughter of Classy Smasher give us a decent run for our money.  A small financial investment is suggested.

Next up Horse Outside, has a tilt at the A6 at 3.28pm.  It’s fair to say Horse has not shown the flair we know he has since returning from injury earlier in the Spring. He’s boxed in one but has to contend with a fast starting railer in two with the accompanying danger of first bend crowding. It’s  fingers crossed for the old Horse to get the bit between his teeth.

Completing Wednesday’s club action is Lenny (Droopys Leonard) who is in stripes for the A5 at 5.38pm. Lenny looks set fair for a pretty clear passage so a return to anything near his best should see him vying for top honours.

Norah has another decent set of contenders amongst her entries for Thursday’s mixed card live on Racing Post Greyhound TV. Our highlight has to be Wendy (Hanover Lady) seeking to land another Maiden Open (this anomaly has to be a quiz question one day).

Effectively home and hosed in a similar contest last Thursday, Wendy became the subject of some unwanted and unwarranted attention from a rival.  Nevertheless she was awarded the plaudits (trophy and 1st prize money) yet still gets another bite at a Maiden’s cherry (who writes this stuff!).

It’s easy to get excited about her obvious chance from trap one in the 9.24pm. Four opponents are seeded middle or wide in a contest that doesn’t seem to feature any stars so a clean break gives her every chance of another trophy success.

Good luck to Cloheena Mickey in round three of the Derby on Saturday – his continuing progress gives a decent boost to all connected to our kennel.

Saturday night’s all-sponsored card provides Wendy (Hanover Lady) another trophy opportunity. Nothing of the calibre of Thursday’s ‘tartar’ in this line-up so our game blue, boxed from three, may still provide us with some silverware this week.
