Winners
The in form Norah Mac kennel celebrated a brilliant five-timer at Hove last night. It was the bitch PENNYS PEEWEE who got the kennel off to a flying start when taking advantage of the drop in grade and winning the D2 sprint at 7-31. The May 2010 daughter of Head Bound was sent off the 6/4 favourite and led on the run-in to beat the Wayne Wrighting trained Skelees Boy by 3/4 of a length. Owned by Mr J. A. Yelding Pennys Peewee clocked 16.63 (-5) 16.58 calculated when winning for the 12th time at Hove. This was a 15th career win for the bitch as she has a Sittingbourne win and 2 wins at Newbridge on her card!
COOLAVANNY KEIRA is in very good form with wins in three of her last six starts! She ran away with the A10 at 8-51 winning by four and a half lengths! The May 2010 daughter of Premier Fantasy was running in her 100th race and was made the 5/2 co-favourite of 3. Showing good early pace ‘Keira’ was crowded at the first bend but she “rode” the trouble well to lead and beat the Claude Gardiner trained Knocknaheeny Boy who ran on for 2nd spot. Owned by Sue Hicks, Gary Maunders, Dave Staddon, Jack Polubinski and Floyd Williams ‘Keira’ clocked 31.08 (-10) 30.98 calculated when winning at Hove for the 18th time! ‘Keira’ also has a Wimbledon victory to her credit!
The ‘success’ story of RAZLDAZL CLYDE continues. Purchased from Dolores Ruth to go hurdling he just can’t stop winning sprints! The December 2011 son of Razldazl Billy has now won five of his last six sprint races including at Open level. Produced from a brilliant litter he has three sisters and one brother. All are rated 115 or higher by Greyhound Data. ‘Clyde’ shares the highest rating of 119 along with his brother Razldazl Banjo who won his Heat of the Ladbrokes Gold Cup 2014 at Monmore last Friday. Owned by Trevor Cooper, Dave Staddon, Dave Reynolds and Gary Maunders ‘Clyde’ was returned the 2/1 favourite when winning the D1 at 9-41. Quick away he led from traps to line clocking 16.52 (-5) 16.47 calculated and beat the Derek Knight trained runner-up Maireads Bel by one and a half lengths! This was ‘Clydes’ 5th win from only 9 starts!
It was a first career win for AVIT ON BERYL when the May 2012 daughter of Farley Turbo won the A9 at 10-13 in convincing fashion! She had been a beaten favourite in her last two races and was again made the 2/1 favourite for this event. Owned by Gemma Byford and Scott Murray she was quick away and racing wide on the run-up led all the way to beat the Jason Heath trained Tornaroy Trooper five and a quarter lengths. The improving youngster got the clear run she needed clocking 30.53 (-10) 30.43 calculated and should go on from this run.
The lightly raced INTAYACYNTHIA (39 races) an October 2010 daughter of Kryptonite is making up for lost time as she was winning for the fourth time in her last seven outings! She took the last race on the card an A4 at 10-30 in good style when leading at the fourth bend to beat the Ken Tester trained Winning Lady by one and a quarter lengths. She clocked 30.58 (-10) 30.48 calculated when winning her 6th Hove race for owners Trevor Cooper, Andy Emms, Silvie Tubbritt and Ray Wheeler at the rewarding odds of 6/1. Intayacynthia also has a Drumbo Park win on her Irish card!
How Our Other Runners Fared
Droopys Bertha had run well on her return from seasonal rest and she again put in a good effort when 2nd in the A7 at 8-02. She held every chance when beaten two and a quarter lengths by the Paul Garland trained winner Newtown Skiprob. Droopys Bertha was a 3/1 chance and clocked 30.89 (-10) 30.79 calculated behind the winner.
Avite Becky very nearly made it an even better night for the kennel as she led briefly on the run-in during the A8 at 8-18. She was sent off the 2/1 favourite and clocked 30.95 (-10) 30.85 calculated when 3rd just one and a half lengths behind the winner Maximus who is trained by Dean Childs.
Ballymac Dainty had a drop in grade for the A6 Owners Bonus Series – Heat 1 at 9-07 but she was unable to get the first three finish she required to qualify for the Final. Crowded at the first bend she was not able to recover and finished 5th behind the Wendy Short trained winner Rowfolds Snowy. Ballymac Dainty was made the 6/4 favourite and clocked 30.98 (-10) 30.88 calculated finishing four and a half lengths behind the winner.
With Sizzlers Magpie a non-runner for the A7 at 9-57 Graiguenoe Royal came in as reserve and he only failed by a Short Head to add to the kennel tally! Slow away and crowded at the third bend he made his challenge on the run-in and only just failed to catch the Jason Heath trained winner Steeple Rd Katie. 2/1 joint favourite Graiguenoe Royal clocked 31.07 (-10) 30.97 calculated in 2nd place!
