Year Two, Final Week to March 3rd…
General News and Review:
This Friday sees the Hove Owners Awards Dinner at the stadium and of the one hundred and forty attendees, forty eight will be in the Norahmac Enclosure. Hopefully all will enjoy another well attended Norahmac social hosted by our friends at the BGOA.
Norah was at Crayford Sales on Sunday and there may be some exciting news in the next week or two. A useful prospect was purchased that may well be recruited to the Racing Club strength. Details to follow shortly.
Pleasingly, Lenny (Droopys Leonard) clocked 30.45 (+.10) on his return to 515 metres in his trial on Saturday evening. He’ll be back on the card very soon now. Norah reports that Wendy (Hanover Lady) has recovered well and will be trialing back in the next couple of weeks.
This is the final week of the club’s second year, how time flies. A big thank you to all who support us.
We’re all geared up to continue thriving with club funds strong, following most members re-subscribing, and five dogs in the kennel strength and the possibility of a new addition in the next week or so.
There are still a few shares remaining for the year ahead as a couple of members who had bought multiple shares (for family) are not able to re-subscribe this year.
We’re probably the strongest and most established of the new crop of clubs that have started in the past years. This, understandably, given the generous backing of Norah, herself. Enabling members the thrill of multiple ownership for £300 a year, combining unbeatable value with unbeatable thrills.
All this plus the benefits of our club tipster, Marc Yerquard, who weighed in with a 7-2 winner on Sunday putting him, and his followers, well into the black after three weeks. A tough feat based on SP to level stakes.
Preview
This Friday morning’s BAGS card provides a welcome sight for club members as we have two runners on the card, following a rather quiet spell.
After a winter rest, Lenny (Droopys Leonard) makes a welcome return to the track in the A5 at 12.58pm. In his favoured striped jacket, our lad can be expected to put in a bold show. That said there are one or two decent sorts for the grade in opposition and his lack of fitness may tell in the closing stages.
The next heat, an A9 at 1.12pm features Oscar (Lima Oscar). Boxed sole wide seed, Oscar holds every chance in this grade but having proved a frustrating sort, the ground likely to run fast – his best form has been on pretty sloppy going and at the likely ‘tight’ odds it’s hard to be too bullish.
Saturday’s evening card, fittingly, gives Wendy (Hanover Lady) an opportunity to end year two on a high note, as our delightful blue girl has a crack at the D1 at 9.57pm. It’s a classy heat with trap six (Guinness Smokie) looking a warm order.
Wendy will need to make the most of a generous ‘frame’ and the possibility that Smokie will need to break clear of a couple of other wide-running sorts in four and five to avoid traffic problems. Fingers crossed for Wendy.
Other News
Norah reports that there is some hope that the club, through Lenny (Droopys Leonard) and Wendy (Hanover Lady), may get a shot at the forthcoming Easter Eggstravaganza competition.
Finalists go through to a national final with bumper prize money at Monmore on Good Friday (March 29th) and there’s enhanced prize money for the lucky contestants picked for the Hove based preliminary heats. Full details of the competition can be found by clicking the BAGS link to the right of this page.
