GLENVALE STEVIE WINS THE SITTINGBOURNE MINI STANDARD

Glenvale Stevie found himself in all sorts of trouble when Tiger Trooper fell in front of him during their William Hill Greyhound Derby 2nd Round Heat and was lucky to stay on his feet! Two weeks on he’s put that disappointment for his connections behind him by winning his first Open race!

Sunday 25th May SITTINGBOURNE Report

Winner

GLENVALE STEVIE took advantage of a drop in class to win his first Open race at Sittingbourne on Sunday night. The November 2011 son of Paddys Flame won the Sittingbourne Mini Standard Open Race at 7-21 run over 450 metres and worth £250 to the winner! Owned by the Norahmacnuggets he was bumped at the first bend but led at the fourth and clocked 27.82 when beating the Heather Dimmock trained Markeys Dragon by 3/4 of a length. This was a sixth career win for ‘Stevie’ who also has four wins at Hove and one win at Drumbo Park on his card!

How Our Other Runners Fared

Athlacca Olympic showed early pace but was crowded 1/2 way in the Sittingbourne Maiden Open Race (480 metres) at 6-11. He clocked 29.76 when finishing 3rd beaten just over three lengths by Lenson Bee who is trained at Sittingbourne by Tony Collett.

We had two runners in the Sittingbourne Super Standard (Heat 1) Open Race (500 metres) at 8-45 but neither was able to qualify for next weeks Final. Viscount Rambler was bumped at the second bend and clocked 30.50 when beaten just under 5 lengths finishing in 4th place. Kennel mate Mikeys Guest was slow away and never showed clocking 31.86 well beaten in 6th place. The race was won by Fit To Win who is trained locally by Tony Collett.

Cellini has been in good form lately and represented the kennel in Heat 2 of the Sittingbourne Super Standard Open Race (500 metres) at 9-19 but she too was unable to qualify for the Final. After showing early pace she was bumped at the first bend and crowded at the third before clocking 30.99 when beaten just under eight lengths in 5th place behind the Tony Taylor trained winner Hillside Royal.

SUNDAY MORNING HOVE REPORT

Sunday 25th May HOVE Report

Sizzlers Big Boy ran well with the drop in grade in the A8 at 11-28. He was crowded on the run-up and baulked at the first bend but ran on well and was only beaten just over 1/2 a length by the Seamus Cahill trained winner Dunham Prince. Sizzlers Big Boy clocked 30.93 (-20) 30.73 calculated and finished in 3rd place.

Princess Jetta was on a hat-trick for the A7 at 11-57 but trouble at the third bend put paid to her chances. She was quick away and led to the third bend before crowding there and at the 3/4 mark held her up. ‘Jetta’ clocked 31.26 (-20) 31.06 calculated when finishing in 6th place just over three lengths behind the Claude Gardiner trained winner Attractive Lady.

Graiguenoe Royal was unlucky in the A6 at 12-27 going down by just a head! He railed well and held every chance behind the Seamus Cahill trained winner Musical Black clocking 30.78 (-20) 30.58 calculated in 2nd place!

Watch Matt ran well enough in the A5 at 12-41. He showed early pace and led from the first bend to the second before finishing in 3rd place behind the Ken Tester trained winner Senor Heat. Watch Matt clocked 30.51 (-10) 30.41 calculated three lengths behind the winner.

Blazing Swallow had not raced for six months and her 20/1 starting price reflected that fact. She returned to the track in the D1 sprint at 12-58 and was very slow away and baulked at 1/2 way. She was beaten nine lengths clocking 17.11 on normal going. The race was won by Coolavanny Muir who is trained by Dean Childs.
