HOVE WINNER WINSTON

Winston  –  Enjoys a drink after todays win!

The Norah Mac Racing Clubs LEATHEMS DESIRE finished 5th in a Hove Open last week beaten just under four lengths by the in-form My Real Mutley when making his return after a two months absence. Our June 13 son of Head Bound had shown his well being when clocking a superb 29.75 in a Hove trial two weeks earlier but didn’t get the best of runs on his comeback! Although dropped in class for the A1 at 2-47 he faced a top quality line-up in a race that looked more like an Open! Seamus Cahill’s Who Needs Class was away smartly and made the running but the field closed up around the last two turns and Droopys Jarrow and ‘Winston’ came with strong runs off the last bend but it was Leathems Desire who got up to win by a short-head in a three way photo! ‘Winston’ clocked 30.23 (-20) 30.03 calculated when getting the better of the Seamus Cahill trained Droopys Jarrow. All six runners were covered by just two and a half lengths at the line! Sent off the 5/2 second favourite Leathems Desire was winning his 7th race for the Norah Mac Racing Club and they now have a total of 124 winners!

 Swift Messi (Lionel)

Swift Messi  –  It’s a hat-trick for Lionel!

Veteran SWIFT MESSI is in brilliant form and completed a hat-trick of wins when winning the D1 Sprint at 4-08. Like a fine wine the September 2009 son of Hondo Black is simply getting better with age and he has now won 5 of his last 7 races! Lining up for his 183rd race ‘Lionel’ was scoring an amazing 31st win at the seaside track! Owned by the very ‘happy’ Glum Sinners syndicate he was sent off a 3/1 chance and showing good early pace he led from 1/2 way beat the Derek Knight trained Maketherounds by a 3/4 of a length clocking 16.66 (-10) 16.56 calculated. Young pup Another Me was made the 5/2 joint favourite but he made a slow start and was baulked on the run-in! He finished in 5th place clocking 16.98 (-10) 16.88 calculated four lengths behind the winner. Fairhill Frankie found himself behind and was also baulked on the run-in and he clocked 17.02 (-10) 16.92 calculated in 6th place just over four lengths behind the winner.

How Our Other Runners Fared

Garrison Madrid was a 7/2 chance for the D2 Sprint at 2-08 but she was baulked on the run-in and finished in 4th place clocking 17.04 (-10) 16.94 calculated when beaten just over three lengths by the Seamus Cahill trained winner Sister Tootsie.

Granson Luca has been in good form lately and was sent off the 5/2 joint favourite for the A9 at 2-27. He did not help his chance with a slow break and had to settle for 3rd place behind the Seamus Cahill trained winner Guinness Dream. Granson Luca clocked 31.14 (-20) 30.94 calculated when beaten just under three lengths by the winner.

The in-form Abbeys Zenyatta just missed out on a three-timer in the A6 at 3-28. She was beaten just 1/2 a length by the Jason Heath trained winner Nods Blue Boy. A 7/2 chance Abbeys Zenyatta clocked 30.99 (-20) 30.79 calculated when finishing in 2nd place!

Causeiloveyou has not won for some time but he continues to run well and a win surely cannot be far away! He clocked a decent 30.48 (-10) 30.38 calculated after making a slow start and finished in 2nd place just one length behind the Seamus Cahill trained winner Seals On Wheels.

Zara Two didn’t get the best of runs in the A4 at 5-07 and finished back in 5th place. He was crowded at the second bend and again at the 3/4 mark and clocked 30.74 (-10) 30.64 calculated when beaten just over six lengths by the Jason Heath trained winner Drive To Dublin.

Sizzlers Big Boy was made the 3/1 joint favourite for the A8 at 5-22 but he suffered crowding on the run-up and at the third bend. He was beaten four and a half lengths by the Dean Childs trained winner Hugo The Boss and clocked 31.21 (-10) 31.11 calculated finishing in 4th place.

Despite being baulked at the first bend and crowded at the third Baby Gold did well to get within one and a half lengths of the Claude Gardiner trained winner Baran Kansas. Baby Gold clocked 30.92 (-10) 30.82 calculated when finishing in 4th place in the A4 at 5-38.
