Gallant in defeat and thru to 14/4
Review
Thursday’s TV from Hove on Channel 212 was significantly brightened with a Norahmac one-two in the Sprint Open. Our Wendy (Hanover Lady) was beaten a whisker by kennelmate Couture, both slamming the odds-on favourite, returning 14’s each and providing a massive forecast for kennel supporters.
Norah was quoted on the show as wanting a dead-heat. Typical Norah, came the reply from the in-house pundit. With the photo taking agonising minutes Norah, the club and the owners got a nice bit of exposure on the Channel.
The track had been biased against the wides all week so a very fair effort from Lenny (Droopys Leonard) in taking runner-up spot in his A4 on Sunday.
Molly (Classy Molly) put in a pretty good show in her intro and looks a useful prospect once she gains some experience. She showed guts and pace in her run and was not far off the winner albeit in rear.
Don’t forget this Saturday, 13th, has three sponsored races from the kennel and hopefully club runners will be on show.
Congratulations must go to club members,’Spriggsy’ (with wife Carol) and Janet co-owners, with Norah, of Zara Two. Spriggsy and Norah picked ‘Monty’ out at Henlow sales last Autumn and the February ’11 son of Premier Fantasy has just completed a graded four-timer at Hove. It’s no mean feat going through the grades from A7 to A4 and the last clocking was an impressive 30.10.
Preview
Molly (Classy Molly) is a late ‘put in’and gets a run in the A7 at 1.58pm on Friday’s matinee card. Whilst our newbie gets a drop in grade, this heat looks competitive for the level and Molly will do well to claim a podium position. Still fingers crossed as it’s just a matter of waiting for the penny to drop.
The Racing Office have provided some tasty morsels for club members to get their teeth into come Saturday’s all-sponsored charity card. The night kicks off with Wendy (Hanover Lady) lining up with a favourite’s chance to claim trophy honours in the D1 at 7.30pm.
Subject to clearing the potential quick starting two, our blue girl, boxed in one, looks to have the ability to hold off these rivals, a number of whom have already been proven to fall short of Wendy’s standards.
We’ve our very own trophy race at 9.41pm, a high class A1. In light of the quality of the event, arguably the highlight of the night, we will forgive the dropping of the ‘h’ in the title and keep our fingers crossed that the trophy stays within the kennel courtesy of Droopys Patsy, in fine form and boxed bang on the rails. Trap to line anyone?
The Coolavanny Rock Trophy at 8.34pm and Rally Town Trophy at 10.13pm, with Norah’s sponsorship of the Roberta and Bella trophy at 7.46pm, keep kennel and club busy throughout the evening.
This all leading to the climax with Lenny (Droopys Leonard) lining up in the finale at 10.30pm, an A4. Lenny has been in fine form of late and his recent showings can be seen in an even better light given the dearth of winners from wide boxes during the recent cold, dry spell. If the recent rains have removed the negative bias Lenny looks likely to make his presence felt.
