GREYHOUND racing remains confident that it can be ready to race behind closed doors from June 1 when the government has said professional sport will be allowed under such circumstances.
Responding to Monday’s published UK Government Covid-19 recovery strategy, GBGB managing director Mark Bird said, “We need to study the content of the document in detail and continue to liaise with DCMS, but I remain confident that the dates we have already published will still have us ready to race behind closed doors from Monday, June 1. A further statement will be made today [Tuesday].”
The GBGB has previously indicated that trials could potentially resume from May 18 with two such workouts required before a greyhound can race.
