Review

Whilst we’re still glowing from the warmth of Wendy’s (Hanover Lady) win last Saturday and a lovely trophy presented to a bevvy of Club members with Norah in attendance,  this last week didn’t give any winners and Lenny (Droopys Leonard) looked a little on the tired side in his run on Wednesday.

Horse Outside gets back on to the sands with a sprint trial on Monday to check out his well being.

On the competitive front, Lenny (Droopys Leonard) contests the A4 at 5.07pm on Wednesday’s card.

It’s hard to enthuse about Lenny’s chance, albeit sole wide seeded, given his lack lustre performance last week. Just a question of hoping that he is on better terms with himself this time round.

Friday’s matinee card has Molly (Classy Molly), in trap three,  seeking to go one better than her recent short head second, in the A8 at 11.28am. Molly had the prize in her sights last week and, in a very similar contest, would be expected to go at least as close this time. It’s just possible that Molly may be a ‘forecast’ dog rather than an ‘all in’ type.  Fingers crossed that she puts her best paw forward.

Later on the card we welcome the return of ‘journeyman’ Oscar (Lima Oscar), in stripes, who contests the A9 at 1.27pm. The grader provides a drop in class from runs prior to his lay-off, giving hope that Oscar will figure in the mix.

Saturday’s evening card – with boosted prize money – features Wendy (Hanover Lady) in the D1 at 10.13pm. It’s a warm contest worthy of Open race status in many respects, featuring some premium Nevill Road speedsters. Wendy gets trap two and, if holding her place around the bend, might manage a podium position on the balance of form on display.

The grader trades off a quick return with an ease of grade for Lenny (Droopys Leonard) who is entered for a tilt at the A5 at 12.27pm. It’s also worth considering whether the track bias is giving any help to wide runners given they’ve been somewhat thin on the ground, win-wise, of late.

Interestingly Lenny’s last run at this level produced a win in a time of 30.30 – a repeat of that clocking would be could enough.
