‘SWIFT DEBBIE’ AND ‘LOCHYS BLUE BOY’ DOUBLE UP AT HOVE!

The wins of Swift Debbie and Lochys Blue Boy made it twelve winners in three days for the Norah Mac Kennel. The dogs are in cracking form at present and most of our beaten runners are not far off the pace! Five second place runners and numerous thirds have made it a very good week for Norah and the “Team”.

Saturday 19th April HOVE report

Winners

SWIFT DEBBIE had gone thirteen races without success but got back to winning ways in the A6 at 8-51 on Saturday night! The August 2010 daughter of Hometown Boy showed early pace and led at half way. Despite being headed she came back to win beating the Ken Tester trained Senor Heat just over a length! Owned by Miss J. A Maslin Swift Debbie clocked 30.47 (-10) 30.37 calculated when scoring at Hove for the 11th time! Kennel mate Swift Messi lined up in this event and he ran well enough in 3rd place holding every chance. “Lionel” clocked 30.78 (-10) 30.68 calculated four lengths off the winner.

LOCHYS BLUE BOY is really looking the part now on the sprinting scene at Hove, five wins from eleven races, and he followed up his success of last Saturday with another smart win this week! The December 2011 son of Local Honcho was quick away and always led in the D1 at 10-13 clocking a very decent 16.37 (-5) 16.32 calculated. Sent off the 9/4 second favourite the Sevenmenandadog syndicate owned ‘blue’ beat Aughacasla Vieri trained by Ken Tester by 3/4 of a length! Lochys Blue Boy’s five career wins are made up of 3 wins at Hove with one at Lifford and one at Dundalk on his Irish card!

How Our Other Runners Fared

Avit On Elsie was unlucky not to complete the three-timer when beaten just 1/2 a length in the A11 at 7-31. Sent off the 6/4 second favourite she was quick away and led to the run in but was collared by the Derek Knight trained Rathglass Charm. ‘Elsie’ clocked 31.13 (-10) 31.03 calculated in 2nd place.

Ballymac Benefit was the 9/4 favourite and held every chance in the A5 at 7-46 when beaten less than a length! He finished in 4th place clocking 30.84 (-10) 30.74 calculated behind the Ken Tester trained winner Len The Brummie.

Collinstown View was another of our runners narrowly beaten on the night! He was beaten just over a length in the A3 at 8-18. He would surely have challenged the winner without the trouble in running that he suffered. Crowded at the first and third bends he was also baulked on the run-in clocking 30.54 (-10) 30.44 calculated when fourth to the Ken Tester trained  Helenas Kathleen.

On Your Lonesome was 4th in the D1 sprint at 9-24. He was crowded at the first bend and on the run-in clocking 16.99 (-5) 16.94 when beaten just under seven lengths by Guinness Brave trained by Seamus Cahill.

Athlacca Olympic clocked a very fast 30.27 (-10) 30.17 calculated but still had to settle for 3rd place in the A2 at 9-41. He has been mixing it with the best all year but was beaten three lengths, after being crowded at the second bend, by the impressive Maireads Dandy [30.02 (-10) 29.92 calculated] who is trained by Derek Knight.

WIMBLEDON DERBY TRIAL STAKES

Saturday 19th April WIMBLEDON Report

Viscount Rambler and Glenvale Stevie never got the ‘breaks’ they needed in their Derby Trial Stakes races at Wimbledon on Saturday night. They both produced identical split times of 4.94 which at that level immediately put them under pressure.

480 Metres Flat     Open Race

8-30    –    William Hill Greyhound Derby Trial Stakes Div R

Viscount Rambler was beaten nine lengths in his Derby Trial race clocking 29.66 (Normal). He was forced to check and was crowded at the second bend before finishing in 6th place. The race was won by Laughing Sam who is trained by Kevin Boon at Yarmouth.

480 Metres Flat     Open Race

9-15    –    William Hill Greyhound Derby Trial Stakes Div H

Glenvale Stevie was beaten a similar distance in his Derby Trial race. He was not well away from his trap 5 draw and had a tussle withViking Jack (trap 4) all the way up the straight after bumping on the run-up. ‘Stevie’ looking to race middle to rails was then crowded at the 1/4 mark and finished 6th clocking 29.55 (-10) 29.45 calculated beaten nine lengths by the winner Barefoot Agent who is trained by Paul Hennessy in Ireland.
