Review

A good week for our club.  On Wednesday, our very own Queen of the Sands, Wendy (Hanover Lady),  fulfilling the confident votes of this correspondent and Marc Yerquard, leaving many of us and the club prize fund in the money.

Lenny (Droopys Leonard) ran out a trap to line winner on Friday in a respectable 30.30, landing his A5 in grand style.

New girl, Molly (Classy Molly) has had her third, and final trial. She won, staying on after some crowding in 30.71 (calc.) and – notwithstanding unforseen problems – can be expected to figure on the card in the next week or so.

Oscar was found to be a little unwell in the afternoon of his contest last week. Whilst nothing serious, he’ll need a short while to get back to full fitness,. This may explain his particularly poor show last time – it may have been brewing in his system.

The media gallery will be updated in the next week or so with the club’s last five wins coming on line.

Don’t forget April 13th as a diary date. An all-sponsored race night with the club sponsoring, as well as a number of club members sponsoring to celebrate the retirement of kennel stars, Rally Town and Coolavenny Rock.

The A3 at 4.47pm on Wednesday’s card has Lenny (Droopys Leonard), now upgraded, back in action and again boxed in six. Recent conqueror, but slow starting, Minnies Orchard is in five (advance card) so it’s no soft option for Lenny.

Still there’s much to like about our April ’10 lad’s recent runs, including his quickest clock for some while last week. Fingers crossed for another decent show.

Following her fine win last week in a modest D1, Wendy (Hanover Lady) finds herself back in the thick of hot Open race action at 8.50pm on Thursday’s televised evening card (Channel 212 RPGTV). It’s hard to make a rational case for our blue heroine, boxed in three, on form but a decent break could see her vie for a podium position.

Molly (Classy Molly) gets her first taste of race action, contesting the sponsored A6 at 8.02pm on Saturday night.

She’s boxed in four amongst some other novices, two of which have already landed a prize and the wide runner has plenty of experience.  So, much in line with racing office policy (allegedly),  our September ’11 girl faces a tough ask on her debut.

Fingers crossed for a safe passage whilst she learns the ropes. A nibble for luck could be the only (irrational) excuse for a bet on her form to date compared to the overall standard of the heat.

The A4 at 12.27pm on Sunday’s card sees Lenny (Droopys Leonard) get a second bite of the cherry. It could be argued that the going was against our black lad midweek, reflected by most of the card’s winners coming from middle draws.

In his usual stripes and in good heart Lenny does face decent opposition for the level, representing modest each way chances.
