Sunday HOVE Report
Winners
PHILLY EAGLE was without a win since last August but he got back to winning ways for his owners the Comebackin Club at Hove on Sunday. The June 11 son of Killahan Phanter was sent off 5/2 co favourite of three and took the D1 sprint at 11-57 in good style. He was baulked 1/2 way but ran on well clocking 16.92 (-10) 16.82 calculated. This was his 4th Hove win and with an A7 win at Limerick on his Irish card it was a fifth career win in total. Kennel mate On Your Lonesome was added to this race overnight and he finished in fourth place having been baulked at 1/2 way after a slow break. He clocked 17-08 (-10) 16.98 calculated.
DROOPYS BERTHA, 9/4 joint favourite, was fastest of the qualifiers for the Owners Bonus Series Final (A6) next Saturday when clocking 30.77 (-20) 30.57 in Heat 2 at 12-27. Owned by Dr H. Ngan she was slow away, crowded first bend, but ran on well to lead run in. The Jan 11 daughter of Droopys Scolari has been in good form and was winning her 7th race at Hove. It was a great shame that Princess Jetta, the other 9/4 joint favourite, should totally miss her break! She was baulked at the third and again on the run in and finished 5th clocking 31.05 (-20) 30.85 calculated.
SUMMERFIELD BELL was upped two grades for her A9 win but defied the grader – just! Winning a short head she took the A7 at 1-28 making it two wins from three starts. Owned by Norah McEllistrim the Feb 11 daughter of Hondo Black was sent off the 9/4 favourite. She showed good early pace and although crowded at the fourth bend she got up on the line clocking 30.79 (-20) 30.59 calculated.
How Our Other Runners Fared
Sizzlers Big Boy was dropped in grade and made 7/4 favourite for the A8 at 11-42 but he found trouble in running and finished fourth! He was crowded at a 1/4, again at the fourth bend and on the run in, clocking 31.13 (-20) 30.93 calculated.
Athlacca Olympic ran a blinder in the A2 at 1-44. He showed early pace but was crowded at the first bend before taking it up at the 3/4 mark and he led to the line only beaten into 2nd place by a short head! He clocked an excellent 30.27 (-20) 30.07 calculated!
