‘GRANSON LUCA’ NOTCHES UP HIS 10th HOVE WIN FOR OWNER RON!

Saturday 6th September HOVE Report

Winner

GRANSON LUCA made it four wins from his last eight runs when he ran away with the A9 at 9-41. Taking full advantage of the drop in grade the February 2012 son of Blackstone Gene stormed home by five and a half lengths! Owned by Ron Stainer the 6/4 favourite showed good early pace and led from the first bend. He was well clear at the 3/4 mark and clocked 30.88 (-10) 30.78 calculated for a comfortable win over the 2nd placed Raithby Rocco who is trained by Jason Heath. All 10 wins of Granson Luca have come at Hove! Kennel mate Glenvale Rosie was up in grade for this race and was placed in a handy position to the third bend but faded to finish 4th beaten 7 lengths clocking 31.45 (-10) 31.35 calculated.

How Our Other Runners Fared

Things did not go to script in the A8 at 7-31. Bermudan based owners Lisa and Lee Beauchamp are on a visit to the U.K. and were at Hove to watch their pride and joy Princess Jetta in action! Sent off the 9/4 second favourite ‘Jetta’ was crowded at the fourth bend and was beaten five lengths in 6th place clocking 30.99 (-10) 30.89 calculated. The race was won by Last Legs who is trained by Derek Knight.

Monleek Diamond has not found things easy in this grade lately. She was baulked at the 1/4 mark and crowded at the second bend finishing 4th in the A4 at 8-34. Monleek Diamond clocked 30.75 (-10) 30.65 calculated five and three quarter lengths behind the Derek Knight trained winner Maireads Secure.

Ballymac Benefit was added to the A6 at 8-51 and ran well to grab 2nd place clocking 30.55 (-10) 30.45 calculated when beaten one and a quarter lengths by the Claude Gardiner trained winner Solid Tempo. Kennel mate Hands Over Eyes made things difficult with a slow break but finished 4th beaten three and a half lengths clocking 30.73 (-10) 30.63 calculated.

Judicial Babe and Shyan Zippy finished 3rd and 4th in the A8 at 9-24 but both were well beaten by the Jason Heath trained winner Dacent Jackie. Judicial Babe was crowded at the first bend and clocked 31.02 (-10) 30.92 calculated four and three quarter lengths behind the winner in 3rd place. Shyan Zippy was crowded at the first bend and also on the run-in clocking 31.07 (-10) 30.97 calculated in 4th place five and a half lengths behind the winner.

There was a very promising debut from Fairhill Frankie in the D1 sprint at 9-57. He had gone well in his trials and confirmed that promise when finishing in 3rd place clocking 16.69 (-10) 16.59 calculated just one and a quarter lengths behind the Jason Heath trained Rizzoli Bert. The experienced Pennys Peewee was slow away and finished in 4th spot clocking 16.72 (-10) 16.62 calculated one and a half lengths behind the winner.

The Derek Knight trained Winetavern Spy was a clear winner of the last race on the card. Swift Debbie was 2nd in the A6 at 10-30 clocking 31.02 (-20) 30.82 calculated after crowding finishing four lengths behind the winner. Avit On Beryl was one place behind her kennel mate in 3rd. ‘Beryl’ clocked 31.07 (-20) 30.87 calculated four and three quarter lengths behind the winner.
