Messi Finally Scores Again At Brighton!
SWIFT (LIONEL) MESSI GAINS HIS FIRST HOVE WIN SINCE LAST JULY!
Saturday Night HOVE Report
Winners
Diane and Alf Benson will have enjoyed this win by their beloved SWIFT MESSI, obviously given the kennel name of Lionel, as it was his first win since the 12th July 2013. Its not that the veteran is not genuine, far from it, he runs his heart out every race and has just had a run of six consecutive 2nd places! The September 2009 son of Hondo Black was quick away and was never headed in the A8 at 8-51 and held on by a head clocking 30.78 (-10) 30.68 calculated. This was a 17th career win for The Glum Sinners owned dog who picked up a trophy for his efforts in winning the sponsored Sydney Stakes! The career stats of “Lionel” are impressive with 120 races completed he has won 17 and been runner-up 35 times! The kennel was close to gaining the ‘forecast’ in this race as Glenvale Paddy held every chance and finished 3rd clocking 30.84 (-10) 30.74 calculated just 3/4 of a length off the winner!
PENNYS PEEWEE has a decent track record and was gaining her ninth Hove win when taking the D1 Sprint at 8-02. The May 2010 daughter of Head Bound took advantage of first bend crowding and despite being baulked she swept through on the rails to win clocking 16.67 (-5) 16.62 calculated. Pennys Peewee owned by Mr J. A. Yelding was completing her 12th career win. She has two Open wins at Newbridge on her Irish card and gained a Sittingbourne Open win on joining Norah. The other nine wins were all at Hove! Glenvale Stevie was returning from a four month absence and with only one trial under his belt he performed with credit when finishing third. He was baulked and led from the first bend to the second before fading and clocking 16.80 (-5) 16.75 calculated one and a half lengths behind the winner!
How Our Other Runners Fared
Droopys Margaret has improved greatly and put up another good performance when 2nd in the A5 at 8-18. She was crowded at the second bend but ran on strongly clocking 30.50 (-10) 30.40 calculated. Lobelia was fifth in this event after being crowded at the second and third bends. She clocked 30.81 (-10) 30.71 calculated.
Watch Matt was also 2nd in his race, the A6 at 9-41, he showed good early pace and led from the first bend to the fourth before going down to the Seamus Cahill trained Guinness Flash by just over two lengths! Watch Matt clocked 30.87 (-10) 30.77 calculated.
The 10-30 race on the card was bitter – sweet for the kennel and connections. Collinstown View ran another great race to finish 2nd. He showed good early pace in this A3 and led to the run in before being caught by the strong finishing Sakara Sky. Collinstown View clocked an impressive 30.19 (-10) 30.09 calculated. The disqualification of Satellite Fever took the gloss off this race. He was slow away and caused deliberate interference at the second bend and finishing fourth clocking 30.70 (-10) 30.60 calculated he was disqualified.
Ballymac Dainty was 4th in the A4 at 7-46 after being baulked at the first bend. She clocked 30.79 (-10) 30.69 calculated.
Pretty In Blue was sent off the 2/1 joint favourite for the A9 at 10-13. She was crowded at the second bend and baulked on the run in to finish 4th clocking 30.99 (-10) 30.89 calculated
Avit On Bertha ran wide and led from the 1/4 to the 3/4 mark before fading in the A11 at 7-31. She clocked 32.05 (-10) 31.95 calculated.
Cloheena Micky was returning from injury in the D1 Sprint at 9-57. He was slow away and running wide finished 5th clocking 16.94 (-5) 16.89 calculated.
Our intended runner in the A10 at 8-34 was Edu Empress but she was withdrawn – off colour.

The Norah Mac Racing Clubs Hanover Lady loves her racing and has an ideal draw in the D1 at 1-12. ‘Wendy’ is slowly reaching full fitness and the 23 times winner will be striking soon!
