Veteran SWIFT MESSI enjoyed another trip to Hove last night and did what he loves doing – Winning! The September 2009 son of Hondo Black had gone close on his last two visits but was without a win since August. However ‘Lionel’ took his chance last night scoring at Hove for the 22nd time! His first win at the track came in March 2011 and his career has been superbly handled by Norah and her team since his arrival at the kennel. Despite racing over 150 times last night became a first for Swift Messi – as the 5 year-old was winning a Sprint for the first time! Showing good early pace he led at 1/2 way to beat the Seamus Cahill trained Geneva Des by almost two lengths! ‘Lionel’ clocked 17.07 (-25) 16.82 calculated when winning the D2 Sprint at 8-02 for The Glum Sinners – his proud owners!
How Our Other Runners Fared
Classy Molly and On Your Lonesome were both crowded at the second bend in the D2 Sprint at 7-31. 10/1 chance Classy Molly finished in 3rd place, clocking 17.34 (-25) 17.09 calculated, two and a quarter lengths behind the race winner Get On Laura who is trained by Seamus Cahill. On Your Lonesome clocked 17.38 (-25) 17.13 calculated in 4th place two and a half lengths behind the winner.
Sizzlers Big Boy ran well in the A8 at 8-18. He made a good start and was prominent but when making his challenge he was crowded on the run-in and was beaten 1/2 a length by the Jason Heath trained winner Brucies Nod. Sizzlers Big Boy clocked 31.21 (-50) 30.71 calculated in 2nd place!
Glenvale Stevie was sent off the 6/4 favourite for the D1 Sprint at 9-24 but his chance was affected when crowded at the first bend and baulked on the run-in! He was beaten two and a half lengths by the Derek Knight trained winner Roses Risk. ‘Stevie’ clocked 16.92 (-20) 16.72 calculated finishing in 5th place. Zara Two (coughing) was withdrawn from this race.
