Mid-term momentum…
Mad-dog Maunders, standing in for yours truly these past few days, reports…
Here’s the latest Club news from the kennels! We now have five dogs in the Club – four racing, one at stud!
We may not have had a winner yet but members are getting value for their £300.
The ups and downs of Greyhound Racing were all too evident again for club members this weekend when Norah announced on Sunday morning that BLACK ACE MAC (Rumble) has run her last race!
Rumble had returned from a long lay-off (hairline fracture to the hock) to record a brilliant 29.16 in her comeback trial, over 480 metres at Wimbledon two weeks ago. The future ahead for this young staying bitch looked bright, raising the hopes of club members. However, sadly after another promising trial last Wednesday, Rumble was found to be lame and very sore, arriving back at Hersham.
Norah said, “Its a great shame as she is a very fast staying bitch but there is obviously a weakness there and in the best interests of Black Ace Mac its the right thing to retire her.”
Club Members will be excited to know that the plan is to send BLACK ACE MAC back to Ireland (Dunphy’s) for breeding. This will not cost the club and we will have first choice of two of her litter. The remainder of the litter will belong to the breeders. Lets hope Norah picks the right two!
With the loss of Black Ace Mac from the Club’s racing strength, and with FLEETWOOD MAC and HORSE OUTSIDE still on the injured list, Norah has kindly introduced two new dogs to the Club. Both winners over the weekend at Wimbledon!
Norah has already sorted the paperwork so welcome to;
LIMA OSCAR (May 09), a black dog by Balintore Brave out of Black Abbey Go. A wide runner he opened his account at Wimbledon at the fourth attempt when winning an A5 on Friday night recording his best time of 29.33 (+10)
HANOVER LADY (February 09) a beige bitch by Hondo Black out of Westmead Nicole. A rails to middle runner she opened her Wimbledon account when winning an A6 on her debut Saturday night, recording her fastest time round the Plough Lane circuit 29.42 (+10)
FLEETWOOD MAC (Woody) had his broken toe removed two weeks ago and is much happier with life now!
HORSE OUTSIDE (Gino) has completed his physiotherapy and Norah is just waiting for Ken (the Magic Man) Chiropracter to check him over before he resumes his career!
Club Members patience and support has been greatly appreciated by Norah and, after a difficult start for our Club, our fortunes could be about to change.
We now have four Greyhounds on our racing strength – FLEETWOOD MAC, HORSE OUTSIDE, LIMA OSCAR and HANOVER LADY.
And one for our breeding programme in BLACK ACE MAC!
