Minutes of Brighton Greyhound Owners Association EGM 26/09/2017

Meeting opened at 7-36 pm

Darren Baker addressed the meeting thanking all in attendance and giving general info for the reason this meeting had been called.

Election of Committee

Chairman –

Darren Baker  Proposed by Brenda Gardiner and Seconded by Elliot Mason

Committee members:

Dave Staddon,  Elliot Mason  and  Jenny Bunting  all wished to carry on in their existing roles on the committee and were duly re-elected.

Paul Sargeant  Proposed by J.Rice and Seconded by Melanie Bollingbroke

Brenda Gardiner  Proposed by Gus and Seconded by Ian Andrews

Mark Charman  Proposed by Sandra Mahon and Seconded by J.Youngman

Sandra Mahon  Proposed by Maria Ansbro and Seconded by Mark Charman

Sandra Mahon will be the new BGOA secretary assisted by Paul Sargeant

The £100 BGOA added prize money race will continue for the rest of 2017

Any Other Business

There was a full, lively and very positive discussion on a wide ranging amount of ideas.

Facebook group (BGOA) had very recently gone live and in a few days already has 70 members which had opened a new line of communication for the BGOA

It was agreed that communication is something that badly needs improving, being nigh on non-existent over the last few years which had been a major contribution to the decline of the BGOA

Reminder that the BGOA now have a website (www.bgoa.co.uk) which was a surprise to some in attendance

Q&A meeting with General Manager and Racing office manager has been requested by Darren and is hopeful it will be taking place soon.

RGT have rehomed 75 greyhounds so far this year with another 5 being reserved

Cost to a Hove owner of re-homing via RGT discussed

RGT have arranged the following

Gala Night 2nd December

Dog Show 6th May

It was noted that it was disappointing these events had been arranged without advising the BGOA and hoped that this could be something to be improved upon with the new committee

Possibility of X -Ray machine for track kennels. Discussion on mats in track kennels

Many issues with the restaurant ranging from food being shocking, why payment has to be advance when not at other tracks, poor service, lack of facilities compared to Romford stadium, lack of customer care for owners to name just some of the issues

Views on cost of joining the BGOA and what you get for your joining fee

Birthday cake presented to Brenda Gardiner. Rumoured to be her 21st birthday!!!

First new committee meeting on Wednesday 4th October 7 pm @ Hove Greyhound Stadium

Darren asked everyone to fill in questionnaires and closed the meeting
