Monday 15th December NOTTINGHAM Report

Nottingham    305 Metres Flat   (OR)                                                          RESULT

Stadium Bookmakers National Sprint 1st Semi-Final                      Going:  Normal
The first two from each Heat qualify for the final on Monday December 22nd
1st £250, Others £40

1st   TARGET HUBERT            17.80          Diane Henry (Unattached)              6/4 fav
2nd  MUSTANG BLITZ           17.81          Norah McEllistrim (Hove)               2/1
3rd   CHEERS TONY                18.00          Kevin Hutton (Towcester)                   5/2

MUSTANG BLITZ stormed his way into Nottingham’s National Sprint Final, a Category Two feature worth £3,000 to the winner, with a superb front running performance where his 2nd place finish qualified him for next Mondays showcase. Mustang Blitz blasted from the traps and led to the run-in where the Diane Henry trained favourite Target Hubert challenged. The pair disputed the lead all the way to the line with Mustang Blitz just missing out on victory by the shortest of short-heads! The November 2011 son of Farley Blitz owned by Kate Aris, Callum Purdy, John Purdy and Richard Vernon was sent off the 2/1 second favourite and he clocked 17.81 seconds over the 305 metre trip. Mustang Blitz has won twice for Norah since joining the kennel from Barrie Draper for whom he won nine times!

How the Racing Post saw it!

Geelo Vegas fastest in

National Sprint semis

GEELO VEGAS (2-1) flew out in the third semi of the Stadium Bookmakers National Sprint at Nottingham on Monday night, and although challenged at the bend by Charlie Lister’s Tiermana Power at the bend, Carl Perry’s star shrugged off (and chopped off!) that rival and then held him as the field bunched behind to score by nearly five lengths in 17.66 sec –  by two spots the fastest of the night.

Diane Henry’s Target Hubert (6-4 Fav) got up for a desperately narrow short-head win (17.80 sec) in the opening semi-final after Norah McEllistrim’s Mustang Blitz (17.81 sec) pinged  and led to the run-in.

Salmon Fishing (6-1) made all (17.68 sec) for Jim Daly to take the second semi,  Hayley Keightley’s Target Harris looked a shade unlucky when crowded at the bend and again on the run in, going down by a half a length.

It means the Target pair of litter brothers, albeit with different handlers, are through to Monday’s £3,000 final.

Young pup Anmima Madam lines up at Hove for only the third time and she will gain valuable experience in the D2 Sprint at 2-08. In contrast kennel mate On Your Lonesome goes to traps for the 96th time and is looking for a 17th career win!

Garrison Madrid got into all sorts of trouble last time and gets a drop in grade for the A7 at 4-08. Blazing Swallow also had traffic problems on her last outing finishing in rear but she was in good form previous to that run!

Speak Out Lilly defied the rise in grade last time and goes up again for that win! She runs in the A6 at 4-47 along with kennel mate Avit On Elsie who was a beaten favourite in this grade last time!

Droopys Bertha has not managed a clear run recently! Connections will be hoping for better luck in the A8 at 5-22.

Judicial Babe would go close in the A6 at 6-11 if running up to her best form!
