Norah on RPGTV, less than ten days away!
News and Review
The kennel is in full swing on all fronts. We had a crew jollying it up at Hall Green Sales two weekends back. No new purchases this time despite a couple of valiant efforts to grab a bit of value. A good time was had by all as is usual at the Sales.

The kennel has been very busy at home and away on the track last week. Highlights including Baby Sky making the frame in the Brighton Belle Final at Hove on Thursday, and then Ballymac Marine grabbing the headlines with a fastest of the round success in the Romford Puppy Cup Heats last Friday. Sunday saw Kizi and Craiguenoe Royale grab gold at Sittingbourne, in the £250 Sprint and Maiden Open heat respectively.

MC Jim interviewing Norah at the Summer Social
Check out the pictures (thanks to Bob Enright) from the 2013 Summer Social last weekend, here >>
It was all systems go at Hove on Saturday with a bevvy of runners, providing four winners during the course of a most successful Summer Social, the club’s second at Hove. Thanks to good spirit from all at Corals; CEO, David Macdonald, Jane and her team behind the scenes, the bar and room staff and Gary on security.
Attendees had great fun, raising over £400 for Greyhound Welfare through the raffle and auction. Our MC Jim Reid kept proceedings moving along and, apparently, even got a laugh from one of his jokes, though it may have just been some-one sneezing.
Many thanks to the kennel team track-side; Gemma, Phillip and Rachael who kept the show on the road – a formidable challenge and a great effort.

Norah’s puddings, following a sumptious buffet, were a fitting climax to an evening which provided four Norahmac trained winners, including Horse Outside for the club at a very juicy 5-1. Kennel pro, Dawn Hillier, was quick to spot and promote ‘the value’ on Horse, given his trap one rival had been withdrawn late in the day. We all know Horse is a pacey type given some space and he made no mistake – a fitting reward for all his supporters.

Many thanks to Norah, generously putting her dog Intayacynthia up for raffle and auction. Raffle winners; Sylvia, Ray and Andy (a mixture of old hands and newbies) all seemed highly delighted with their good fortune. Well done Trevor Cooper who made the successful bid at the subsequent auction. There was some conjecture on the night as to whether ‘Kodak Cooper’ just wanted to prove himself a better man than the rather shifty under-bidder, but that’s just hearsay!

On the strength of a wonderfully successful and highly enjoyable evening it’s hoped to have another midwinter bash to banish the post-Christmas blues in January?
Finally just a reminder that our ‘Living Legend’ is live on Racing Post Greyhound TV Thursday (week), September 19th. Our shrinking violet is looking forward to all her friends, fans and owners – past, present and future firing in questions, comments, nostalgic or otherwise, on the night via twitter and e-mail (all details on the drop down on Racing Post website Greyhound section).
So September 19th from 715pm. A date not to be missed. And as anyone who knows our twinkle-eyed whirling dervish can testify – anything can happen on the night and something most likely will. Hobbsy watch out!

Friday’s BAGS matinee card sees a combined effort by club runners Dessie (Droopys Design) and Gilbert (Ferdia Oscar) to grab a slice of the D1 loot at 11.28am. The former, wearing the black jacket, is on the comeback trail from injury and may find this all a bit hot but Gilbert, in the orange jacket, has the ability to grab the judge’s attention if able to stay out of trouble.
The closing contest on the card, the A4 at 1.58pm, features Horse Outside seeking to double up. A rails berth with a rails to middle rival in two suggests that Horse could defy the handicapper given the run of the race. That said this is a somewhat stronger line-up than last Saturday.
On Saturday Lenny (Droopys Leonard), in stripes, looks to have a sound chance of grabbing gold in the A5 at 9.41pm. He’s looking pretty sharp at the traps at the moment and may gain a soft lead, with a novice on his inside, and some less than sharp starters making up the field. Hopefully a clear sight of the bunny will maintain his interest to the line.
