Oscar in line for an Oscar?
Norah reports…
“I’ve had a couple of students from Westminster College down this last week or so. They are making a documentary on Greyhound Racing which has been sanctioned by the GBGB.
The guys have visited the kennels, the welfare next door and we all went to the track last Friday.
Part of the remit is to demonstrate the thrill of racing but also get a perspective from the dogs themselves. So the film needed a ‘star’ on which to focus the narrative.
Cue the club’s very own Oscar (Lima Oscar) who was filmed preparing at the kennels and the track for his A7 contest – and then in the race itself.
Our black multiple winner managed to make the photo-finish this time, finishing a close third much to the delight of our resident local member, Barbara, who was filmed making a fuss afterwards – of Oscar not the result !
Anyway, subject to further filming and GBGB approval, the documentary may be shown on the GBGB website advertising the sport – and we will have a copy loaded onto this website.
I think Lassie was the last dog to win an Oscar but surely our boy’s name is a sign from the gods that he may be next in the canine line for acting honours.”
