Out in the cold – Feb 10th!
Update
Last Friday’s card has been, for the most part, transferred to the 10th. Checking the wellbeing of the club dogs with Norah on Wednesday morning she reports:
“Woody has a swelling on his wrist which is to be x-rayed tomorrow so his participation at the weekend is in some doubt. However, our other three club runners are in fine fettle notwithstanding the cold and should be fine for Friday. The frost has meant that they’ve been unable to gallop but it’s unlikely they will be any less fit than their competitors who will have the same problems as us.”
Open race news
The kennel has Broadstrand Bill in the heats of the Arc at Swindon on Wednesday (8th) evening. Coolavanny Rock also takes a shot at a supporting Open.
Droopys Darwin runs at Oxford on Saturday in the Trafalgar CupĀ heats. He has an advantage of being one of the oldest pups in the competition but the 450 metre distance is a little on the short side based on his form to date and he faces tough opposition from Droopys Stevie in trap one.
Droopys Patsy runs in the second heat at Oxford , it’s a softer option but the June 10 youngster will need some luck in running.
Druids Gaffney continues to gain experience for the William Hill Springbok (novices hurdle competition) with a run in a Trial Stakes race (8.30) on Saturday.
Norah expects to take a couple to Romford next Monday for the 575 metre maiden heats.
Remember February 20th is the cut off for group purchase of tickets for our F.A.B. celebration evening in the Wimbledon Restaurant on March 10th. Let a co-ordinator know of your intentions to come, and numbers, and all payments need to be made in full by 20th.
