Race report, Gino…
Gino (Horse Outside) put up a brave show in his A5 last night. Inconvenienced by his trap five berth, he sought to take a middle line from the start. Contact with the ‘four dog’ left him in mid-field, and then pushed wide at the first bend.
Our youngster showed a decent turn of pace and passed a number of runners down the back straight but was again pushed wide, and lost ground, turning into the home straight. He stayed on well enough to retain third place, beaten about a length and a half.
He will have learnt from this experience and will strip fitter next time – given this was his first race in weeks.
Hopefully he will now get a more appropriate seeding in future races.
Those owners who attended were satisfied with his run and, so long as Gino stays injury free, it’s only a matter of time before he starts moving up the grades.
