Rolling update thru to May 6th…
Review
A big silver lining to club runner performances last week with Lenny (Droopys Leonard) clocking fifth fastest on the card on Saturday. A 30.03 calculated saw our black lad take second place in his A2. Whilst Lenny still may not have won, the eventual winner probably cost him a few spots, leaning and pushing him out further wide on the run to the line.
Well done to Druids Gaffney and Cloheena ‘Johnny’ Cash who provided the kennel with Open wins over the weekend.
Gaffers, as the 5-1 outsider of four, showing no mercy to his rivals, slicing through the pack with some sizzling pace on the turn for home to land the Category Three £750 hurdle competition at Sittingbourne.
Johnny, a magnificent 10-1 tip from Richard Birch in the Post, scrambled home by two short heads to win his Derby first round heat. Onward and upward for Johnny we hope.
Preview May 2nd
This week’s club runner action begins on Wednesday with Lenny (Droopys Leonard) attempting to go one better on last week in the 2.47pm (A2). Sole wide seed but in a classy heat so fingers crossed!
Later on Wednesday’s card Wendy (Hanover Lady) takes her chance in the 3.48, a D1. Whilst Wendy sports the red jacket, it’s a pretty hot affair. Hopefully the grader will soon relent and we will see some D2’s which will more to our genuine blue’s liking and level. That said – there’s no complaints with the weekly opportunities and decent run money!
Thursday’s televised Open card provides opportunities for kennel runners – Rally Town versus Jimmy Lollie amongst others.
Review May 2nd
A very satisfying afternoon for Norahmac club members: Lenny (Droopys Leonard) put up a courageous display to take gold in his A2. The pacey Puma Girl quickly asserted but Lenny ran on stoutly, taking the lead in the final twenty metres or so and holding off all challengers.
Later in the afternoon Wendy (Hanover Lady) put up her finest display since joining the Nevill Road contingent. Showing pace to recover from a poor break, and clocking a nifty 16.59 to take silver in the D1.
Preview Friday May 4th
Woody (Fleetwood Rocker) returns to the limelight in the 13.27, A3, on Friday. In a tight affair Woody may well need some luck in running but, if getting some chance of eyeing the bunny, could go close.
Preview weekend 5th/6th
Wendy (Hanover Lady) get a second bite of this week’s cherry with an entry in the D1, 9.41pm on Friday evening. Boxed in red in a tightly graded heat it’s plausible – based on her run earlier in the week – that she may go close. Fingers crossed!
Horse (Horse Outside) gets a breath of sea air with a Sunday lunchtime stint in the 12.13pm, an A5. Our lad has yet to show much sign of regaining his mojo since the move to Hove, and suffered a tumble last time out. Hopefully he will get round safe and sound and show no ill-effects. Our September ,09 is plenty capable if in the mood but it’s been quite a while since he has fired on all cylinders.
News and Social
Sunday sees the WGOA dinner dance at Reigate. Team Norahmac has three tables this year. Good luck to Tim who is up for kennel hand of the year. Whilst there will be some mixed emotions it’s always a rip roaring evening.
The last video from Wimbledon has finally been received and will be uploaded to the website in the next week or so. Soon after, Wimbledon wins will be archived – though still only a click away – and the video page will focus on Hove wins – of which there are already two.
The club has been delighted to welcome several new members in the past couple weeks; so hello to (in no particular order) Sid, Barbara, Paul – with Sarah, Bart – with Shirley and Ivor – with Lesley.
Joining the club is almost a bet to nothing given the fun on offer at the price. We’ve just a few more memberships available for this Norahmac year. This leaves us, as a club, in an healthy financial position compared to six months ago. The significantly better prize money at Hove and additional subscriptions will be less of a strain to Norah, especially if we incur vets fees – and leaves us able to keep an eye open for any decent sorts that might be purchased ‘for cash on the quick!’
Belle Vue sales, June 10th anyone?
