WINS FOR ‘LOBELIA’, ‘AVITE BECKY’ AND ‘RAZLDAZL CLYDE’

Saturday 5th July HOVE Report

Winners

LOBELIA followed up last weeks A6 win when running away with the A5 Dave Gray Memorial Trophy at 8-18 on Saturday night. The July 2011 daughter of Van’s Escalade showed good early pace and led from the first bend to pull three and a quarter lengths clear of the second placed Portumna Flower who is trained by Paul Garland. Lobelia was sent off the 5/2 favourite and clocked 30.73 (-10) 30.63 calculated. She is owned by Ross Banner, Ted Lloyd, Jim Reid and Dave Staddon and was winning for the 8th time at Hove!

AVITE BECKY was well beaten on her return from seasonal rest but stepped up to win the A9 at 8-34 gaining her first success since the 17th July 2013. Owned by the Comebackin Club the August 2011 daughter of Rumble Impact was quick away and disputed the lead throughout. A 4/1 shot she clocked 30.78 (-10) 30.68 calculated when beating the Paul Garland trained Clash Cookie a short head! This was a 6th career win for Avite Becky and they have all come at Hove.

RAZLDAZL CLYDE was having only his fourth career start but opened his account in good fashion when staying on well to win the D1 sprint at 9-41. He was purchased from Dolores Ruth with the intention of having a crack at the Springbok Hurdle however illness and injury held him up and he missed that competition. Owners Trevor Cooper, Gary Maunders, Dave Reynolds and Dave Staddon will not be worried what code he wins under as he is obviously talented! The December 2011 son of Razldazl Billy was beaten ten lengths by his kennel mate Kizi in a Sittingbourne Open Race sprint last Sunday but was always going to be more at home in this graded event at Hove. ‘Clyde’ was sent off a decent priced 6/1 shot and despite racing wide on the run-in ran on well to beat the Derek Knight trained Somoud 1/2 a length clocking 16.57 (-5) 16.52 calculated.

How Our Other Runners Fared

Princess Jetta was on a hat-trick for the A6 at 8-51 but despite a good break she was unable to gain victory. She clocked 30.99 (-10) 30.89 calculated in 4th place when beaten five lengths by the Jason Heath trained winner Rabbits Pier.

The Norah Mac Racing Clubs Longrange Denis had won his last two races clocking very fast times and was sent off the 6/4 favourite to complete the hat-trick. He may well have done so without being baulked at the first bend of the A1 at 10-30. Running on well from off the pace he failed by only 3/4 of a length to peg back the Paul Garland trained winner Means Business. ‘Denis’ clocked 30.35 (-10) 30.25 calculated in 2nd place!

OUR SEVEN RUNNERS ON THE SUNDAY LUNCH-TIME HOVE CARD

Sunday 6th July HOVE Runners

Farloe Scolari held every chance when beaten in this grade last Friday. Runs in the D1 sprint at 11-11.

It was not a bad debut by Avit On Beryl after she had made a slow start! She gets a drop in grade for the A8 at 11-28.

There was not much between Droopys Brody and Droopys Leonard when the pair met on the 25th June! Hard to choose between them again in the A5 at 11-42.

Cellini won in very good style last Saturday clocking 30.23 sec! She should go close in the A4 at 12-41 with a repeat run!

Blazing Swallow was a good winner last Sunday and is up in grade for the A7 at 1-12.

Intayacynthia has gone close to winning on her last five runs! She deserves to get her nose in front again soon and will give everything in the A6 at 1-28.
