Last week several of the club reps and kennel runners ran just a fraction below par. That said there were a couple of good shows along the way, including decent placings at Sittingbourne’s BAGS championship.

And for Norahmac club members, a major silver lining was the inaugural win from rising star, Leah (Memories Leah) on Sunday in her A3 – in only her second look at the track.

Our March ’11 girl, trapped well, and despite some crowding which pushed her out at the first, was in a very handy position by midway down the back straight.

Those watching were holding their breath in expectation of  Leah’s back straight pace, and they were not disappointed. Our blue railed approaching the third bend and quickly swept by the leader, establishing a decent lead over the pack.

A win by a length, clocking a session (joint) best time of  30.20 (calc.) had members both, at the track, and in betting shops throughout the land, cock-a-hoop. The latter included Norah, who was cheering her pup home all the way down the home straight, comfortably seated in her berth in the Hersham Metrobet betting emporium!

The kennel gets into full swing from the ‘off’ this week with a host of runners in with a decent shout on Wednesday’s Bags card.

Lenny (Droopys Leonard) is given another fair crack at an A5 purse with a sole wide seeding in the 2.47pm. Whilst only runner up on Sunday in the same grade Lenny, beaten three quarters of a length by a useful youngster, did have the rest of the field some way behind.  Our black lad looks like he may well be the ‘jolly’ again in a heat that looks there for the winning.

Thursday’s Racing Post greyhound TV card features a clutch of Opens and the club is represented by Wendy ( Hanover Lady) who takes a shot at the Sprint Maiden at 8.50pm.

Our blue is likely to start at a working man’s price given she’s berthed out in trap four. Fingers crossed that she gives a good account.

Friday’s brunch Bags has Oscar (Lima Oscar) contesting the A7 at 12.58pm. Our lad is retaining his form well enough and has every chance in a typical event of it’s kind.

Sunday’s brunch Bags provides a fitting climax to the club week with our rising star, Leah (Memories Leah) having to contest at A2 level in the 11.57am.

Obviously this can be seen as a telling compliment to our March ’11 bitch – A2 in just her third run at the track but it’s fair to say she has improved with each of her visits to Nevill Road.

So it’s a watching brief with bated breath and fingers crossed for a safe run!

Horse Outside takes a poke at the A4 at 1.58pm. He should be sharper for his trip to Kent last week but has a decent sort in kennel companion Donnas Gift on his right in ‘two’ and a very useful youngster in Droopys Causeway in five.

As a betting interest; Horse to be third to the above named in a reversed trio, and a combination saver in case he clicks!  That’s eight bets by the way!
